This week I got an angry email from a friend who had just rented a car from Hertz: Did you know H ertz is putting cameras in rental cars!? This is bullsh*t. I wonder if it says they can tape me in my Hertz contract. He sent along this photo of a camera peeping at him from out of his NeverLost , a navigational device that the company has started putting in many of its cars:
I even felt weird about singing in the car by myself, he said. A Googling expedition revealed that my friend was not the first person driven to disturbance by the in-car surveillance system. A Yelp user was revved up about it . Disgruntled renters on travel forums like MilePoint and FlyerTalk want Hertz to put the brakes on spy cams. A loyal Hertz customer who rented a car in Chicago said it might make them never want to rent with Hertz again:
The system can t be turned airline flight tracking current off from what I could tell. Further investigation revealed that the camera can see the entire inside of the car. I know rental car companies airline flight tracking current have been tracking the speed and movements of their vehicles for years but putting a camera inside the cabin of the vehicle is taking their need for information a little TOO FAR. I find this to be completely UNACCEPTABLE. In fact, if I get another car from Hertz with a camera in it, I will move our business from Hertz completely.
Hertz has offered the NeverLost navigational device for years, but it only added the built-in airline flight tracking current camera feature (which includes audio and video) to its latest version of the device NeverLost airline flight tracking current 6 in mid-2014 . Approximately a quarter of our vehicles across the country have a NeverLost unit and slightly more than half of those vehicles have the NeverLost 6 model installed, Hertz spokesperson Evelin airline flight tracking current Imperatrice airline flight tracking current said by email. In other words, one in 8 Hertz cars has a camera inside but Imperatrice says that, for now, they are inactive. We do not have adequate bandwidth capabilities to the car to support streaming video at this time, she said.
So why is Hertz creeping out customers with cameras it s not using? Hertz added the camera as a feature of the NeverLost 6 in the event it was decided, in the future, airline flight tracking current to activate live agent connectivity to customers by video. In that plan the customer would have needed to turn on the camera by pushing a button (while stationary), Imperatrice explained. The camera feature has not been launched, cannot be operated and we have no current plans to do so.
The device is often included as a free perk for Hertz s Gold members, meaning Hertz is taking the risk of creeping out its most loyal customers with the camera eye in the car. When asked whether customers were informed there would be a camera in the car, or told under what circumstance it would be activated, Imperatrice again emphasized that the cameras had never been used. The camera on our NeverLost airline flight tracking current 6 devices has never been active (hence, it is never on) and we have no current plans to activate the camera in the future, she said by email.
In a 2013 blog post titled Peace of Mind, a developer involved in a Hertz hackathon wrote about using the in-car camera along with other sensors in the car to detect an accident and immediately get a customer a new vehicle. In the post, he included two screen shots of a live call, but Hertz spokesperson Imperatrice said everything done for the hackathon event was essentially a mock-up. Even the video that appears to be from inside airline flight tracking current the car was not from a NeverLost, she said.
The feature certainly makes sense as a customer service offering airline flight tracking current in the event of car troubles. It d be nice to be able to talk to an agent on camera after a fender-bender or while stranded on the side of a road. But at the same time, you could imagine camera mission creep, such as Hertz using it to capture video of what a trouble renter is up to in the vehicle, or to see who is really driving the car, or to snoop on a singing or snuggling driver. The fact that customers aren t notified about the camera and when it would be used is troubling.
Not notifying customers that they might be on candid camera is generally frowned upon legally. In 2012, the Federal airline flight tracking current Trade Commission cracked down on a rent-to-own company that failed to warn customers that it had put spyware on their laptops so that it could turn on the built-in cameras if they failed to make payments. (During its investigation, the FTC discovered the company airline flight tracking current had taken photos of users having sex .) On the automotive front, Chevrolet put a nanny cam in its new Corvette last year so that paranoid owners could monitor valets, airline flight tracking current but GM had to immediately warn new car owners not to use the feature because it is is legally problematic to spy on people in your car without their knowing about it.
When Hertz put its new NeverLost technology on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas later year, a representative bragged that the device offered a rich set of services our competitors airline flight tracking current don t currently airline flight tracking current have. Those competitors may now be glad they don t have it.

On Tuesday, the San Francisco-based startup FlightCar will land in Portland, giving travelers a way to get free parking at the airport while they're away. In turn, those cars are made available to pre-screened visitors flying into the airport.
"I think Portland is a great market for this," all inclusive cruise vacations said FlightCar CEO Kevin Petrovic. "We opened in Seattle five months ago and things are doing really well. Portland has a lot of same travel as Seattle. It also helps that it's the birthplace of car-sharing."
all inclusive cruise vacations Some people may have trouble with the idea of a complete stranger zipping in their car around Stumptown while they're vacationing in Hawaii or on an overseas business trip. But with the rise of the sharing economy, Petrovic thinks people are increasingly open to using the next generation of car rentals.
After dropping off their keys at a green FlightCar shack at the lot, vehicle owners can hop on a shuttle bus to the terminal. Meanwhile, someone flying into Portland would pay between 5 cents and 40 cents per mile to use it, depending on demand and vehicle. (You're not going to pay as much for a 2001 Nissan Sentra on a Wednesday in October as a Tesla Model S on the Fourth of July.)
Petrovic said he and his girlfriend came up with the idea of FlightCar after noticing that an increasing number of people all inclusive cruise vacations were willing to share and make money off cars that would normally be just sitting parked in a garage or driveway.
"I was doing a lot of traveling at the time," he said. "Rather than just leaving a car sitting at the airport, I thought this is an opportunity for people to make money and save a lot of money, too."
Although the service is geared toward younger travelers more open to participating in the sharing economy, Petrovic said it has also proven popular among "price-sensitive demographics" such as traveling all inclusive cruise vacations retirees.

Almost everyone who goes to Walt Disney World has been in the Contemporary Resort. That's because the monorail runs right through the middle of it. It's the coolest thing in the world to see the monorail disappear into the hotel and appear a few minutes later out the other end.
The Contemporary is a special hotel. First, it's the tallest Disney hotel at Disney World and it's one of the best hotels anywhere in the world because of one little thing. What's that? It's a little thing called LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
Yes, it's all about Location. The Contemporary Resort is located right next to the Magic Kingdom . Yes, right next door. In fact, it's about a 10-minute wyndham hotels walk from the hotel to the front gate of the best theme park in the whole world. (If you happen to get a Theme Park View, you'll have a spectacular view right into the park and you'll think Wishes is happening right outside your window.)
The hotel sits between two of the best bodies of water you can imagine. On one side is Seven Seas Lagoon which is the lake in front of the Magic Kingdom. On the other side is Bay Lake (where the Tower gets its name from) that connects the Contemporary with the Wilderness area (Campground and Lodge).
I said this is the tallest Disney hotel at Disney World and I meant it. This thing is 14 stories tall. (The rest of the Disney Hotels are just 3 or 4 stories.) The height wyndham hotels of the hotel gives it room for one of the most impressive areas in all of Disney World. That's the Grand Canyon Concourse.
The Concourse stretches from the ground all the way up the 14 floors of the Resort. The is where the monorail runs through wyndham hotels the concourse. Inside this massive structure are some of the restaurants, shops, and a lot of guest rooms.
On the walls of the concourse, which are 90-foot high, are tile murals created by one of Uncle Walt's favorite artists, Mary Blair. These murals include stories of native-Floridians (or is that native-Americans?), one of which includes a 5-legged goat (because nothing is perfect even at Disney World.)
The Contemporary Resort has 4 restaurants wyndham hotels including one of the most loved character meals at Disney World. Three of the restaurants are Table Service (according to the Disney Dining Plan ) and the other one is Quick Service.
Chef Mickey's - one thing the Contemporary Resort is well known for is Chef Mickey's. It's a great place to eat at a buffet hosted by the big mouse himself. Chef Mickey's is open at breakfast and dinner (and during busy seasons lunch too), you'll find Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto coming by your table to say hello. (Characters wyndham hotels change wyndham hotels without notice).
The Wave - If you wanted to design a perfect restaurant to match the modern architecture of the Contemporary, you'd probably end up with The Wave. Wow does this thing fit in. When you walk into the restaurant, you walk down this big tunnel which ends in an eclectic dining wyndham hotels experience.
Disney says this restaurant is a casual restaurant offering American-style cooking blended wyndham hotels with world flavors. I don't know if that really caught the essence of our visit, but I will say Mrs. Mom and I had totally different experiences.
Contempo Cafe - a quick-service snack shop that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night dining. It serves fast food such as bagels, cereals, sandwiches. At dinner you'll find a little more robust menu with pastas and more.
Along with great restaurants, the Contemporary has the best watersports options at Disney World. You can do just about anything possible on the water at Sammy Duval's Watersport Center. There are tennis courts, an arcade, a marina, pools, and lots more in case you get bored.
Getting to and from the Disney Contemporary Resort is a snap. You can walk ( like you don't walk enough already ), you can drive, you can take a boat, a monorail or even a taxi. There are even buses (Luxury Motor Coaches) everywhere except the Magic Kingdom.
wyndham hotels The Contemporary Resort opened in 1971 when Walt Disney World was first introduced to the world. Walt designed it and the Polynesian Resort to be a special place for his guests to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Uncle Walt wanted the Contemporary to look state of the art and futuristic. In 1971 it was very eye opening. The design was nothing short of amazing for the day. Uncle Walt even invented a totally new modular concept in construction to build the Contemporary Resort (something that's used regularly today).
Bay Lake Tower is part of the Disney Vacation Club . It's an all suite hotel. There are studio, one, two and three bedroom suites that you can purchase an interest wyndham hotels in or just rent them for the night.
So where is the Contemporary? See for yourself. It's in just about the perfect location for a hotel. wyndham hotels It's the only hotel (OK, we're not counting wyndham hotels Bay Lake Towers because the Towers are really just an extension of the Contemporary) within walking distance of The Magic Kingdom .
Are you ready? Why not get started today? All you have to do is fill out one little wyndham hotels form and one of Dad's friends from Destinations to Travel (don't wyndham hotels you just love that name?) wyndham hotels will get in touch with you and help you get started with a Perfect Vacation. What on earth are you waiting for?
Our room was a decent size--similar to what we've experienced at mid- to high-end hotels. There wasn
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort on the far western side of the Disney property. The main structures for the resort were inspired by actual African building designs. We were told when we were there that actual artisans and builders from Africa were brought over to help during k west hotel london its construction--which we thought was pretty fantastic!
The resort is broken up into 3 sub-sections-- Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House (which is in the Animal Kingdom k west hotel london Lodge structure) and Kidani Village. We were initially really confused by this as you can go between the two major complexes k west hotel london to use the amenities, but it's a little bit of a walk or very short shuttle k west hotel london ride to travel from one to the other. After some research, we discovered that it looks as though Animal Kingdom Lodge is the "standard" hotel portion of the complex, Jambo House is in the original Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge structure, but those rooms were converted into villas and Kidani Village was built later on to house only villas (I believe k west hotel london many or all of these are for Disney Vacation Club members only).
Both Animal Kingdom Lodge (which houses Jambo House) and Kidani village house their own restaurants, pools, gift shops, front desks, etc. Guests of one can easily travel to the other if they like to visit the pools, shop, eat and take part in activities. We actually didn't k west hotel london go to Kidani Village during our last stay because everything we wanted to do at our resort was at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but during this next trip we play to explore a bit more!
As we are not Disney Vacation Club members (though we have considered it), we stayed in a standard 2-bed in Animal Kingdom Lodge. We will be staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge again in March, so we'll see how our room and view compare to last time!
The lobby in Animal k west hotel london Kingdom Lodge is beautiful k west hotel london and open with dark wood and authentic African decor everywhere. It is very, very large. There are multiple items on display (well worth a peek), which you can easily kill a little time looking at if there's a line at the desks (there are quite a few). If you have super touch-y ADHD'ers, you definitely want to keep a close eye as the displays sit behind large glass containers, which could be dangerous if you have a child that gets a bit impulsive.
There are many areas to sit including an area with a TV that plays kids' films. Thankfully k west hotel london the resort was smart and placed it near enough to the front desks that you can easily k west hotel london see each other if one of you heads to the front desk while the other stays with the kids.
The lobby, like much of the rest of the hotel, is beautiful and interesting. k west hotel london The seamless theme throughout the resort was definitely a big plus for us and one of the many reasons we're returning to the same resort again this year!
Being a deluxe k west hotel london resort and a Disney property, we had high expectations, especially in terms of service by the hotel staff. We checked in very late at night (I believe it was around 1:30 am) because our flight was delayed k west hotel london and a late flight to begin with.
The night auditor at the front desk was perfection--exactly who you'd want to be greeted by after a long, super late flight with kids. He was kind, inviting and very helpful. He explained our Magic Bands to us (this was the first time we'd used them; something I'll discuss in another post) and told us how to use them for both the hotel, parks and purchasing. We asked a few questions regarding the shuttle and also what we could do to celebrate both our kids' birthdays while there (we visit right around both their birthdays) k west hotel london and he was quick to oblige us.
Our experiences with the daytime front desk staff weren't quite as impressive, but not negative either. We found one man in particular to be a little bristly (ironically the one we tended to get most), but he did help us with a few things from not getting shampoo/conditioner/soap one day in our room to a glitch with linking our tickets to our Magic Bands in the system due to the way my name was input.
k west hotel london As I mentioned above, we chose to stay in a Standard 2-bed. Unless you choose a room with a specific view, we've noticed it's similar to playing roulette as to whether or not you'll have a breathtaking view or not. We rolled the dice and thankfully--we won!
Our room was a decent size--similar to what we've experienced at mid- to high-end hotels. There wasn't a ton of extra space, but more than enough to maneuver around with the 4 of us. Our room included 2 decent-sized queens, a nightstand between the beds (I wish there had been 2), a small table and chairs, large entertainment center with built-in bureau below and a fridge. There was a decent-sized closet and I remember there being a safe for valuables as well.
The bathroom included a small open area with double sinks (always a plus with kids!) and then a toilet and full shower/bath behind a door. The bathroom "room" was tight when opening/shutting the door, but the water pressure was good and everything else was decently spaced. I suggest going to Disney's site for additional room images (click the squares at the bottom left of the image at the top of the page).
Our room had a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs on it. The first morning we were there we were so tired from the night before that we ordered room service k west hotel london and while the kids ate picnic-style on one bed while watching a show (with a towel beneath them to catch any crumbs/mess of course), we left the balcony slider open and ate at the small table together. The table was a little small to fit both plates and cups of coffee on, but with an opportunity to have a quiet "adult" meal ... we made do!
The view... Oh my gosh, easily one of the most amazing things we experienced on our last Disney vacation. Our room was almost at the end of one of the sides of the horseshoe-shaped complex, which gave us a very private-feeling from our balcony. And let me tell you, the first time the animals began walking past our view ... we all nearly died!
ADHD parents, k west hotel london if your children are at all interested in animals this is the resort for you! Our boys spent almost as much time on our balcony as they did anywhere else. The resort is clever and puts a list of all the animals on the complex, which you can check off as you see them. Our guys made it their mission to check off them all. Seriously, the view and animals alone were worth staying here!
We forgot k west hotel london meds one morning (major crisis!) when rushing to get to the shuttle pickup area and the Hubs had to rush back to get them. Because of the distance, we missed 1 or 2 shuttle pickups k west hotel london (which were slow that morning) and nearly missed a third. He wasn't walking either--he was booking it!
The distance also made dragging ourselves back to our room after a long day out extra tiring, but honestly, this one negative didn't affect our stay that much. If anything, it just tired out the boys a bit more and helped them sleep a bit harder.
We did a lot of research ahead of time, so we knew that we had chosen a resort fairly far compared to other resorts from parks, Downtown Disney, other resorts, etc. This may or may not matter to you. Our shuttle pickups, because of the distance, were spaced out about every 20-30 minutes during the day. Our rides to and from Magic Kingdom took about 20/25 minutes, which wasn't too bad.
Keep in mind, some resorts are adjacent to the other major parks and you could walk or take a short shuttle ride if you chose. Honestly we loved what Animal Kingdom Lodge had to offer and welcomed the calm serenity k west hotel london we experienced there due to its distance from everything else. I'd say, if you don't mind a bit and want to feel away from it all, Animal Kingdom is the place for you!
We scored this based on convenience in comparison to the most park-accessible resorts, as we found that's what most people take into consideration. Again, if you want peace and distance from the bustle, this is a great choice.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has 3 restaurants, 1 poolside quick service bar and 2 lounges. Kidani Village's complex has 1 restaurant and 1 poolside quick service bar. As I mentioned above, we didn't go to Kidani village to eat or shop, so I can't comment on their restaurants, k west hotel london though I've heard Sanaa (their themed dining restaurant) is very good.
Of Animal Kingdom Lodge's 3 main restaurants, there is Jiko (fine dining), Boma (buffet/family k west hotel london style/themed) and The Mora (quick service). There is also Uzima (poolside k west hotel london bar/quick service), Cape Town Lounge (lounge) k west hotel london and Victoria Falls Lounge (lounge). Kidani Village has Sanna (fine dining) and Majo Pool Bar (quick service/poolside bar). You can read more about each of these in-depth on Disney's site .
Boma offers a large buffet or family-style dining. We chose the buffet every time as did our kids. The buffet has everything from meat to African-inspired dishes and side dishes. Our oldest has a very mature palette and tried pretty much everything. Our youngest is a super difficult eater and mainly ate mac-n-cheese, salad and desserts. I think between the Hubs and I, we tried just about everything else between our 2 visits. Everything was good, yet clearly curbed to appeal towards American palettes. The Hubs and I both grew up in Asian influenced households, so we're used to more spice and seasoning k west hotel london than many people we come across and don't mind some heat in our food. Regardless, we found the food at Boma tasty and worth the money (kids are $30, adults were $59.99 k west hotel london for dinner; breakfast is about half of that).
The Mara is a quick service dining restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It offers very common American dishes and foods from sandwiches k west hotel london to pizza; chicken nuggets to cold items like yogurt. You can either order hot food or purchase premade foods from the wall of refrigerated k west hotel london items. We ate here two or three times and found the food neither impressive nor awful. If you just need to grab some food and want to stay on a lower budget, this is a decent option. I wouldn't suggest eating here if you're looking for some
Sure, it s a little inconvenient, with its waaaaaaay off the beaten path location in Animal Kingdom
On a recent whirlwind trip to Disney World, I planned to get together with friends for lunch. I had a hankering for the totally incredible Butter Chicken at Sanaa , so I couldn t wait to head over there for lunch!
And, let me tell you dear DFB readers, it is going to be VERY difficult to edit this review considering how much I want a big ol plate of that Butter Chicken right now . I had half a twix bar in preparation, but I don t think it s going to do the trick.
The same care and attention to detail that went into the decor of Animal tour companies in ireland Kingdom Lodge is at play here as well. The soaring lobby greets you with colorful African decor and a thatched roof! I love it!
Once you get to the restaurant tour companies in ireland downstairs, you ll see why they chose the name. The word sanaa is Swahili for art, and is the perfect description of this beautiful spot that marries handcrafted artisan touches with food that s prepared with care and tradition.
Upon entering, you pass by the comfortable bar and lounge area. Open continuously from 11:30 until midnight , I love this quiet spot for a drink and a bite. It s a great location for an early dinner if you don t have a dining reservation.
If seeing animals is important to you, here s a TIP : be sure to book your Advanced Dining Reservation tour companies in ireland for earlier in the day. Choose either lunch or an early dinner. Later seatings might fall after dark, and you won t be able to see much except your reflection in the glass at that point.
When it came time to order, I pretty much knew what I was getting. You know how much I m craving Butter Chicken right now while I edit this post? Yeah, that s pretty much how much I crave Butter Chicken every waking moment. BUT, I suppose you should take a look at the menu anyway.
While we decided to bypass drinks during our lunch, I can heartily recommend both the Mango Margarita (how can you possibly go wrong with van der hum?!?) and the Safari Amber that we sampled during a previous visit.
If you re dining at Sanaa for the very first time, you should know that bread service here is not complimentary . However, it is very much worth the price. Choose from incredible tour companies in ireland breads and accompanying sauces and spreads.
While we chose not to have the service on this visit, I ve had it previously and could make a meal of it. Seriously, you could easily order three helpings of Naan and I would be totally, 100% OK with it.
A lot of people get nervous knowing they re going to an African restaurant, but I promise you ll find something you can enjoy even if you re picky. tour companies in ireland Just order minus sauces and extras if need be. The servers and chefs are very accommodating.
So, you already know what I m getting. It s from a selection of braised items from the portion of the menu entitled Slow-cooked in Gravy, Simple tour companies in ireland and Well-seasoned. tour companies in ireland Isn t that a lovely way to explain tour companies in ireland what you re gonna get?
To be fair, I HAVE eaten other things at Sanaa, so be sure to check out my previous reviews for stuff like Beef Short Ribs and Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce . But this time it was all about the Butter Chicken and Spicy Durban Chicken . The braised tour companies in ireland meats come with your choice of Basmati Rice or Five Grain Pilaf .
The Butter Chicken (a.k.a. heaven in a bowl) has a rich, delicious sauce, full of complex flavors. tour companies in ireland Traditionally made with a combination of butter (natch), tomato puree, garam masala, and other spices, it s seriously awesome. I think I m going to sneak over to Sanaa on my next visit and just order three big bowls of it. To heck with the menu.
On this visit, I couldn t help but get the Spicy Durban Chicken again, too. I LURVE spicy stuff, and I LURVE chicken, so this is perfect mix. Something interesting to note: this dish originates in Durban, South Africa which is home to one of the world s largest Indian populations outside of India. As such, it s the perfect place to celebrate African-Indian fusion.
As much as I love a good, traditional burger, this one is a completely new twist! Served on naan (hubba hubba!) and topped with minted greens, tomato, onion, and cucumber raita, it s the perfect choice for someone wanting to experiment with new flavors while enjoying an old favorite.
Served tour companies in ireland with warm chocolate sauce in the well of the kulfi, and accompanied by strawberries, spiced cashews, a dollop of whipped cream, and a beautiful dried pineapple garnish, this was yummo and refreshing. Note that it s a small serving, tour companies in ireland though, so not great for sharing among multiple people.
As an avid tea drinker, something I really enjoy at Sanaa is the wide range of loose leaf teas available. With the options of Indian black teas and South African Rooibos options, we see a beautiful fusion of Indian and African flavors.
Check out the tea box at the front of the restaurant when you first walk in. This certainly gives you a chance to make an informed decision and to try something new. Teas come brewed in a 17-ounce pot enough tour companies in ireland to share between two people.
Sanaa remains one of my absolute top picks for dining at Disney World. tour companies in ireland Due to the nature of this blog, I have to eat everywhere I can so that I can give a good, balanced tour companies in ireland review of the food on property. But Sanaa really is one of the restaurants I would frequent over and over again if I had the opportunity .
Sure, it s a little inconvenient, with its waaaaaaay off the beaten path location in Animal Kingdom Lodge s Kidani Village. It s true: you will likely need to mark off a few hours if you dine here. But it s so worth it! The food is phenomenal.
In addition to that, the great care that Imagineers took in creating this restaurant is evident everywhere. The view of the Sunset Savanna free with a meal!! is unparalleled. Usually, you must pay big bucks to see animals like this. And don t forget once you re at Animal tour companies in ireland Kingdom Lodge , there s plenty to look at and see there as well.
For now, I ll continue to tell you how much I love Sanaa. AND I ll be thankful that, because so few folks want to sacrifice park time to get there, I ll always be able to get a reservation whenever my heart desires tour companies in ireland it.

Thank you for the great review! And how timely; my ADR window tour companies in ireland is opening for the day I m planning to go to Sanaa tomorrow! I don t eat meat but my guy does, so I ll be sure to sing the praises of the butter chicken to him (lol), and enjoy a vegetarian sampler for myself
Looks awesome! Last time I was there I had the rice pudding for dessert and it was totally NOT your traditional rice pudding. Almost deconstructed, you pretty much pour the milk/cream over the rice yourself. SO GOOD! Highly recommend it.
I will chime in to say that I love this restaurant as well, and also you are absolutely right about the butter chicken. I got it on my second trip to Sanaa recently, and I wished I d gotten a double portion. DELISH. Also, the red and white sangrias are very good, and my friend raved about the mango berry tapioca pudding for dessert. This is one of our favorite restaurants on property tour companies in ireland can t beat the view.
This is my favorite restaurant out of all of the restaurants I ve tried so far on Disney property. The same goes for my husband! Last year alone, we went twice during our honeymoon and then again during our Christmas trip. I was intrigued by the menu when the restaurant first opened, but my husband wasn t so crazy about it. Due to a 3-hour delay at the airport, we didn t make it to WDW in time to deal with our ADR at bluezoo, so we changed our plans and ate at Sanaa instead since we were staying at AKL.
I knew immediately that the bread service would be a definite try. It is the perfect start for a meal, and it s really the perfect thing to share and get a bunch of different tastes at once. We ve tried the following accompaniments:
4. Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus our first server told us this was one of the most popular, and we ended up loving this too even though my husband doesn t even like red peppers very much; it s a good non-spicy choice
tour companies in ireland Since you can double up on your accompaniments or your bread choices, we now only get onion kulcha (which is moist as opposed to the chewier naan) and papadum (two pieces per order because it s super-thin and extremely crispy). We can t finish all of this in one sitting even though we also share an entree, so we bring it back and eat it later that night or the next day. Though the bread might not be as fresh or as crispy, we still love it even as a leftover. The flavors of the accompaniments tour companies in ireland are still delicious!
We ve also tried the appetizer Sampler for Two, but we weren t so happy about the roasted cauliflower because I like mine a tiny bit softer. It just didn t seem to be that special. We ordered it when it didn t have the duck but had the lamb instead. Samosas were good but nothing compared to the bread service. We ve also had the Mustard Seed-crusted Scallops, which were PERFECTLY cooked. I ve never had such wonderfully cooked scallops before.
As for the entrees, we fell for the shrimp tour companies in ireland with green curry sauce with the basmati rice. Since we split the entree, we get 2 orders of the shrimp and we split the rice. The server told us to remove the 3 small bowls from the long plate and just dump the rice out on it so that it s easier to mix it all together. It made a difference once we knew to do that because there s a lot of sauce to use up! The shrimp was just cooked (hate rubbery, overcooked shrimp) and so it had that fresh crunch to them. We savor every bite, and I even use a knife to cut up one shrimp into pieces. We ve ordered this during each of our visits and will continue to order it in the future! tour companies in ireland I asked for the recipe (not that I think we d really be able to recreate it so well), but they don t give this one out. Smart move. Keeps us craving Sanaa. It doesn t look like that much food, but we are always full when

Tiki culture in the United norwegian cruise lines States began in 1934 with the opening of Don the Beachcomber, a Polynesian-themed bar and restaurant in Hollywood, California. The restaurant, with flaming torches, rattan furniture, flower leis and brightly colored floral fabrics, featured Cantonese cuisine and exotic rum punches.
After returning from his travels to Cuba and Hawaii in 1937, Victor Bergeron, known as Vic "The Trader," transformed his Oakland saloon, norwegian cruise lines Hinky Dink's into a Tiki themed restaurant Trader Vic's. Two years later at the California norwegian cruise lines s World Fair the Golden Gate International Exposition celebrated, for the first time, Polynesian culture in the United States. After World War II, returning soldiers brought back with them stories and souvenirs from the South Pacific including an intense desire for all things Polynesian.
Walt Disney and his wife Lillian started visiting Hawaii beginning in 1934 when they vacationed on Oahu. In the mid-1950's, Walt's interest in Polynesia continued to grow. He patronized Polynesian supper clubs and tiki bars. He loved the food and atmosphere so much that he wanted to open up his own Polynesian/Tiki restaurant. According to the Tikiman Pages website, "The thing he wanted to add that made it different, but sticking to the true Polynesian design, was to animate the décor. He wanted to make the Tikis, birds and flowers move and talk. This was not only the birth of the idea for the Polynesian resort but Audio Animatronics, which is at the heart and soul of all the Disney parks." This year the Enchanted Tiki Room is celebrating its 50 th Anniversary. It is in the history of this attraction that the culmination of Walt's fascination with Tiki culture can be found, but that's norwegian cruise lines another story!
Like The Contemporary, The Polynesian Village Resort was always planned as an opening day hotel on October 1, 1971. And like its sister hotel, this resort did not originally look like it does today. However, unlike The Contemporary Resort Hotel , The Polynesian Village Resort norwegian cruise lines had its grand opening celebration on October 24, 1971, one day before The Contemporary Resort Hotel.
The original plans called for 12-story triangular high-rise structure, similar to Hawaiian resorts built during that time. The main building would have included the lobby, retail shops and dining, meeting space and guest rooms. Similar to The Contemporary Resort's Top of the World Restaurant, at the top of The Polynesian norwegian cruise lines was to have been a 'South Seas' dining room. Surrounding the main building would have been smaller longhouses along rambling streams, a waterfall-fed swimming norwegian cruise lines pool and a lagoon where guests could go skin-diving.
In 1970, once U.S. Steel came on board, Welton Becket Associates modified the design of the entire resort. The large, main-building was scaled norwegian cruise lines back into the present-day Grand Ceremonial norwegian cruise lines House. The number of longhouses was increased to include the additional guest rooms that were originally part of the former design of the main building. The Polynesian Village longhouses, The Contemporary Resort, consisted of the same construction method norwegian cruise lines of slotting in completed pre-fabricated rooms . The one difference was that this resort was only three-stories in height. Therefore, the hallways, norwegian cruise lines frames and roof were simply norwegian cruise lines built around the rooms.
The Polynesian Village Resort, with its Great Ceremonial House, which was modeled after a Tahitian norwegian cruise lines royal assembly lodge, opened with 492 guest rooms in eight longhouse buildings: Bali Hai, Bora Bora, Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, and Maui. Resort rates in 1971 were $29, $36 and $44, depending on the floor, view and location.
During the weeks leading up to the opening of the Walt Disney World Resort, The Polynesian Village Resort served as home base for many journalists covering the opening. Some of the press staff worked in offices at The Polynesian Village while others worked in the Magic Kingdom in offices located on the upper floors of City Hall.
According to Charles Ridgway 's autobiography, "Spinning Disney's norwegian cruise lines World," the press itinerary included a day visiting the Magic Kingdom , a tour of the entire property, use of the recreational facilities and a gala evening luau on the beach of the Polynesian Village. Unfortunately, during the six days of press previews it rained every day thereby preventing the cast members from setting up each evening. "So every night we moved our luau inside to an upstairs balcony area overlooking the central atrium lobby," said Ridgway. "A little less glamorous, but dry." At each press night inside the Polynesian Village, Hawaiian dancers performed and chefs paraded around the balcony with a large roasted pig, albeit a plastic pig, with an apple in his mouth. Only Ridgway and his staff were tired of seeing that pig night after night, but the journalists had a wonderful time.
According to Ridgway, "For the Grand Opening television special, a real pig was used at the luau and, for the first time in a week, there was no afternoon rain. It turned out to be a sparkling evening when the Electrical Water Pageant sailed across the Seven Seas Lagoon for the first time."
Clayne Dice, who had been working norwegian cruise lines in the hospitality norwegian cruise lines industry since he was 15 years old, joined the Walt Disney Company in 1970 as the Administrative of Hotel Planning. He worked on developing policies, manuals, rates and systems norwegian cruise lines for the resorts. In January 1971, he was promoted to General Manager of The Polynesian Village Resort. During its construction, like everything else, The Polynesian Village had its own challenges. The Great Ceremonial House appeared to be falling apart. In David Koenig's book, Realityland, Dice said, "Originally around The Great Ceremonial House they had used bamboo from the Far East, six to eight inches in diameter. "By the time we were getting close to opening, it had split, rot and come apart. They had to tear it all out and do a simulated fiberglass bamboo."
Dick Nunis, Vice-President norwegian cruise lines of Park Operations and an avid surfer, wanted to bring surfing to Walt Disney World and The Polynesian Village Resort provided the perfect backdrop. Nunis thought that waves crashing into the shore of the Polynesian Village's west beach, which Nunis wanted to rename "Surfrider Beach," would give guests a more realistic experience. So in mid-1971 a wave machine was installed, reportedly at a cost of $400,000, in the Seven Seas Lagoon on an island adjacent to Beachcombers Island. The wave machine did indeed work – too well as a matter of fact – and the crashing waves caused too much beach erosion. Most people say because of the erosion, the wave machine was abandoned. However, other stories about its demise included the wave machine constantly broke down during the three day grand opening and that it could only be turned on for a couple of hours a day. Others have said the waves were so good they caused problems for the various watercrafts that had to traverse that section of the lagoon. In 1985, Disney tested the wave machine one more time. It was decided that it was best to just remove it in its entirety. norwegian cruise lines Contrary to popular Disney lore, the wave machine was not sunk to create an artificial reef, but it was completely dismantled and removed.
In addition to Walt Disney World becoming norwegian cruise lines a popular vacation resort, it was also becoming a popular convention destination. As a result, the Polynesian Luau became a popular activity norwegian cruise lines for conventioneers. Until 1972, luaus were held outdoors, but because of the frequent rainstorms in Florida, especially during the summer months, many of the corporate luaus were cancelled and money had to be refunded. Therefore Disney decided to build an all-weathered sheltered luau cove. Much of the structure norwegian cruise lines took over the real estate of Beachcombers Island and that all but sealed the fate of the wave machine.
When the resort opened norwegian cruise lines there was one swimming pool, located between the marina and the Hawaii longhouse. On the other side of the Hawaii longhouse, surrounded by the Tonga, Bora Bora and Maui longhouses was a putting green. Today that area is home to the East Pool or the quiet pool. In 2001, the old volcano norwegian cruise lines pool was finally replaced with a new volcano pool.
In the 1980′s, there was a slight name change norwegian cruise lines to the resort and the "Village" part was dropped and now it is known as the Polynesian Resort Hotel. Three more longhouses were added: the Oahu in 1978 (also this year the Maui longhouse was renamed the Maori longhouse) and the Moorea and Pago Pago were added in 1985 bringing the total number of guest rooms to its current 847.
In 1999, most of the Resort's longhouses were renamed to better represent the Polynesian islands. With the exception of Fiji , the other 10 longhouses were renamed: Bali Hai became Tonga ; Bora Bora became Niue ; Hawaii became norwegian cruise lines Samoa ; Maori changed again to Rarotonga ; Moorea became Tahiti ; Oahu became Tokelau ; Pago Pago became Rapa Nui ; Samoa became Tuvalu ; Tahiti became Aotearoa norwegian cruise lines , and Tonga became Hawaii .
Excluding the three-story rock and waterfall rainforest, much of the Great Ceremonial House has undergone dramatic changes including the replacement of the green blue tiled floor in 1996 (now earth-toned rock slabs), and new or re-themed dining and retail outlets.
The Papeete Bay Verandah was a French Colonial restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner with nightly floor shows – a Polynesian Review. It was closed norwegian cruise lines in the latter half of 1994 and reopened in 1995 as 'Ohana's . The Coral Island Cafe became the Coral Island Coffee Shop and today is known as the Kona Cafe . The South Seas Dining Room featured a Polynesian buffet, norwegian cruise lines after it closed it was used as a space to conduct focus groups for various Disney pro

Guests can forgo renting a car and take advantage of the bus service, cruise ship ratings and reviews plus get around via boats and monorails. Plus, getting to the resort from Orlando International Airport isn't much of an issue with included motor coach transportation, including luggage transfers.
1. All of the Disney-owned-and-operated hotels are served cruise ship ratings and reviews by the resort's bus service. Transportation from the resorts to the four theme parks and Downtown Disney is direct, so there's no need to make a transfer. cruise ship ratings and reviews However, to get to the water parks or the other resort hotels from your own hotel, you'll have to make a transfer. This can be done by taking a bus from your hotel to one of the theme parks, to the Ticket and Transportation Center, or to Downtown Disney and catching another bus to your destination.
For example, cruise ship ratings and reviews if you're staying at Disney's Coronado Springs and have dining cruise ship ratings and reviews reservations at a restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge , you can take a bus from the hotel to Disney's Animal Kingdom and transfer to a bus that's heading to the hotel.
Sometimes you can even make a transfer cruise ship ratings and reviews using a boat or monorail. For instance, if you need to get from Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney's Yacht Club , which can be accessed by boat, take a bus from the first hotel to Disney's Hollywood Studios . From that theme park, switch to the nearby boat that makes a stop at the Yacht Club.
2. One of the conveniences of staying cruise ship ratings and reviews at a Magic Kingdom - area hotel is the proximity to Disney World's cruise ship ratings and reviews first and most popular park. These hotels are on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop most of them anyway. Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Villas , and Disney's Fort Wilderness Cabins and Campsites are considered to be Magic Kingdom-area hotels but do not have monorail service. They do, however, cruise ship ratings and reviews have boat access to the park in addition to bus pickups. Disney's Grand Floridian and Villas , the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower , and Polynesian resorts all have monorail access.
Several Epcot -area hotels have boat service to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Yacht Club, Beach Club and Villas , BoardWalk Inn and Villas , and the Swan and Dolphin are such properties. Bus transportation between these parks and hotels is not provided. Taking a boat to Epcot will leave you in the World Showcase section of the park, meaning you'll have to do a bit of walking if you'd like to start your visit in Future World, near the park entrance. Buses provide service to the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal cruise ship ratings and reviews Kingdom.
4. Think again if you thought you'd be headed straight to your destination once you get on the bus. Disney often groups nearby resorts on a single bus route. For example, you may find that after boarding your bus headed to the Magic Kingdom from Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter that it makes multiple stops at sister resort Disney's Port Orleans Riverside . You should also know that the buses may fill up quickly and there may not be any seats left when this occurs. Similarly, the Epcot-area hotels that we mentioned cruise ship ratings and reviews earlier are on the same bus loop. Keep in mind that your bus may make multiple stops on the way back to the hotel as well.
5. If you prefer to get to the parks at least a half-hour before opening to beat the crowds, know that bus service starts an hour before the gates officially open. Bus service continues until one hour after the parks close. Buses run from Downtown Disney until 2 a.m. To avoid crowds at the bus stop, don't wait until the last minute to exit the parks.
6. It seems logical that because the Magic Kingdom and Epcot have monorail access that park hopping cruise ship ratings and reviews between them would be simple, right? Unfortunately, a monorail transfer is required to do this. To get to Epcot from the Magic Kingdom, catch an express monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center and transfer there to the monorail headed to Epcot.
8. Disney's cruise ship ratings and reviews Fort Wilderness is one of the resort's largest properties. Home to far-flung campsites and cabins, the resort has an internal bus system that transports guests to main parts of the property, as well as to the marina and the bus depot.

General Resort News - (2/24/15) A reader pointed discounts on expediacom travel purchases out one more feature of the new 2015 ticket price increase that I failed to notice on the last update. The option for paying discounts on expediacom travel purchases extra to add-on the No Expiration Option discounts on expediacom travel purchases is now no longer available . All newly purchased tickets will expire 14 days after their first use, though older tickets with no expiration date will still be honored.
(2/23/15) As expected, new increased ticket discounts on expediacom travel purchases prices went into effect at Walt Disney World on Sunday. The new ticket prices discounts on expediacom travel purchases will follow along with last year s more confusing scheme, where tickets to the Magic Kingdom cost more than the other three parks. Now a 1-day / 1-park ticket to Epcot, the Studios or Animal Kingdom will cost you $97 (up $3) for an adult and $91 (up $3) for a child pass, and a 1-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom will now cost $105 (up $6) for an adult, or $99 (up $6) for a child.
Meanwhile Florida Resident Seasonal Passes are $329 (up $10) and Resident Annual Passes are $529 (up $44). For no residents your options are a regular Annual Pass for $654 (up $20) or a Premium Annual Pass for $779 (up $25)
(2/20/15) Remember I warned everyone a month ago this was coming, but the whispering has now turned into a roar and the Walt Disney World parks are expected to raise their ticket prices this weekend, most likely on Sunday as that is the start of their work week for scheduling. This is your last chance to buy tickets and annual passes now at the current rates.
(2/16/15) The local news reports that the long-running Richard Petty Driving Experience attraction at Walt Disney World is closing down in June. On top of this, Disney actually confirmed that the entire racetrack will be demolished at this time to make way for some kind of new transportation improvements.
(2/9/15) According to a few experts discounts on expediacom travel purchases and former Disney IT people who have spoken to Screamscape since the layoffs were announced last week, Disney s latest actions may not only be a major mistake, but may be long lasting repercussions that could haunt them for years to come.
As the news did mention briefly, many of the Walt Disney World IT staff were informed last fall that a big shake-up was on the way and they would have to re-apply for their jobs. However, I m also hearing that many of the higher ups saw this coming well over a year ago, and began to take the necessary discounts on expediacom travel purchases steps to jump the sinking ship ahead of time. Long before the layoffs this month, some of Disney s best and brightest IT people have been apparently departing the company anyway in a steady stream for the greener pastures of other major corporations.
Having the experience they did in dealing with Disney s extremely custom and proprietary systems have provided made many of Disney s IT people a very versatile skill-set that can come in very handy elsewhere in the world. Meanwhile... the backside of this is that by outsourcing more and more of their IT responsibilities to India, is not going to be an easy thing for any outside programmer to tackle due to the previously mentioned highly customize and proprietary systems Disney has in place. Apparently this is not Disney s first rodeo in outsourcing to India as well, as I m told it went very badly the last time around as well.
The bottom line here is this... if and when Disney does realize that they may have made a mistake, they may have a tough time building discounts on expediacom travel purchases up their local IT team once again, discounts on expediacom travel purchases as a good percentage of the the local market of IT professionals in Orlando has either been burned by Disney discounts on expediacom travel purchases in this latest lay-off, or knew someone who was burned, so they may think twice before working for the mouse.
(2/5/15) The local news reports that about 500 IT workers discounts on expediacom travel purchases at Walt Disney World were laid off this week unexpectedly. Many of them apparently were involved with the creation and roll-out of the MyMagic / MagicBand technology, so some of these may actually just be part of the wrap-up of that program s installation phase, as it is now fully installed throughout Walt Disney World and whatever extra staff they took on to launch it, may not be needed. The news however reports that some of it may also be due to the growing outsourcing of a lot of Disney s IT needs to India with the signing of a contract with a company called HCL back in 2012.
(1/23/15) A word of warning to anyone planning a trip to the Walt Disney World theme parks in the near future. discounts on expediacom travel purchases According to our sources in California, the Disneyland Resort parks are preparing to increase their ticket prices in the very near future. Meanwhile Walt Disney World last increased their ticket prices back in late February 2014, so if I had to guess the Walt Disney World parks will also see their own price increase within the next month.
If you are able, I d buy your tickets or annual passes online NOW to ensure you have locked in the current lower prices, because there are few things that are certain discounts on expediacom travel purchases in life other than Death, Taxes and annual Disney price Increases.
(1/18/15) I received an interesting update regarding Disney s removal of the prize redemption counters and ticket games last night. It seems there was a bill (PCB 668) that was given unanimous discounts on expediacom travel purchases support by the Senate s Gaming Committee last year, that was intended to fix the previous law, and allow arcades like Chuck E Cheese discounts on expediacom travel purchases and Dave Busters to continue to run their operations with coinless games. For whatever reason, the official listing of it says it was sent to the Commerce and Tourism department for review, and there it died back in May.
According to one source, discounts on expediacom travel purchases Disney s being pro-active in removing their ticket redemption discounts on expediacom travel purchases games and prize counters may actually be a hidden budget cut. Not that the cost of the tickets or cheesy prizes is all that high, but the operations labor required to keep them running is. By removing them they no longer have to staff positions to run the counters and maintain all the physical ticket hardware, or the positions needed to order and stock the prizes. discounts on expediacom travel purchases A switch back to a traditional arcade discounts on expediacom travel purchases operation is much cheaper on the labor end of things, especially in the hotels which wouldn t really need to staff anyone to sit in the arcade all day long.
(1/17/14) For those who frequent the various arcades across the Walt Disney World property there has been an interesting development. I m told that the arcade at the exit of Space Mountain will close in early February, and the various discounts on expediacom travel purchases arcades at the resort hotels are in the process of removing their prize redemption counters. Why?
Apparently a poorly worded an anti-gambling law passed in Florida in 2013 is to blame which was intended to ban electronic games of chance and a trend that was seeing internet cafe s turning into online casinos, with non-physical cash transactions. (aka: swiping a card vs putting coins into a slot). While it seems no action was taken against Disney, they are being pro-active and removing / closing the prize counters at the arcades to return the experiences back to being simple arcades and games of skill. Personally, discounts on expediacom travel purchases I couldn t be happier, as I think the ticket game redeption garbage has been choking the life out of the true arcade experience for years and has long since gotten out of hand, so it will be nice to see arcades free of ticket games and go back to just being about the skill of playing video games again.
On the other side of the coin, it will be interesting to see what kind of change this may have on the operations of other major arcade style attractions such as Chuck E Cheese, Dave and Busters or any of the various Mini-Golf Arcades that line the tourist corridors of not just Orlando, but the entire state.
(10/28/14) The OBJ has confirmed that the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels are undergoing an extensive renovation the largest one in the resort s history actually. According to the article the linked resorts will spend $125 million during a multi-phase upgrade which will see all the guest rooms redesigned and upgraded with new furnishings and new technology.
Renovations for the first phase of 500 rooms at the Swan will be completed by the end of 2014, while the first phase of renovations at the Dolphin wont begin until sometime in 2015. The renovation work on both resorts will be completed sometime in 2016.
Fastpass+ discounts on expediacom travel purchases is currently being offered to all guests in all four parks. Guests can have up to 3 FP+ for the day, but they are only valid in a single park. So, you cannot, for example, book 1 FP+ in Epcot and use the remaining 2 in MK. If you book FP+ in a park, but do not use any of them, you can cancel them and set them for another discounts on expediacom travel purchases park, but if you use even just one, they are locked into that park for the day. This started in the beginning so the individual infrastructure for each park could be built up and made more reliable, and also to see which attractions (both new to FP and used to it) guests were going to. This continues today to ensure the parks can hold thousands of people a day on the system, and WILL eventually change so guests can use their FP+ in multiple parks a day.
Guests have the ability discounts on expediacom travel purchases to book 3 FP+ a day, and cannot book anymore, even after all 3 have been used. The reasoning discounts on expediacom travel purchases behind this is to ensure that most of the guests have the ability discounts on expediacom travel purchases to get their own FP+, and it spreads them out across the board, making it fair to all guests so the people who enter the park at 2pm for example still have a fair shot at getting some. I at this point am unsure about this changing, discounts on expediacom travel purchases but when the park hoping happens, you will most likely discounts on expediacom travel purchases see a change in this as well.
The reasoning for the tiered system both at Epcot and Studios is to give more guests the opportunity to get a FP+ for a big attraction, and to ensure that they have not all been given out within an hour of the park opening as Test Track, Soarin, and Toy Story have consistently done. The tiered system will not be changing.
Epcot and Hollywood Studios have a tiered system when it comes to FP+. Essentially what this means is that there are two categories tha

No other Walt Disney World resorts offers the level of cultural immersion and exotic experiences that can be discovered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is my favorite Walt Disney World Resort; my heart practically sings the minute cheap car rental uk I set foot in the awe-inspiring lobby. As a Disney Vacation Club Member, Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my two home resorts. One of my favorite ways to use our membership is to indulge in the Kilimanjaro Club level. Whether you are a DVC Member cheap car rental uk or not, from the level of service, the multiple food beverage offerings, and the overall cheap car rental uk luxury, the Kilimanjaro Club Level is an unforgettable experience.
cheap car rental uk So what makes the Kilimanjaro cheap car rental uk Club so exceptional? And what special value does it represent for DVC Members? Let s embark on a safari of sorts as we explore cheap car rental uk all that makes this one of the most incredible experiences cheap car rental uk offered at Walt Disney World.
First up let me explain that I have a very strong affinity for this resort. It truly is my favorite, so simply cheap car rental uk setting foot here, much less spending the night or two, makes me very happy to say the least. If you want to better understand what makes Disney s Animal Kingdom Lodge the king of the Disney resort jungle, check out Six Reasons We Love Disney s Animal Kingdom Lodge . Now, let s shed some light on why the Kilimanjaro Club level is so special for DVC Members.
Disney Vacation Club is very different than the average vacation ownership. When DVC first arrived on the scene it was all but unheard of for a timeshare concept to utilize points rather than members having to stick to the same week and same unit type each year. The innovation hasn’t stopped there. In the beginning Disney Vacation Club existed as its own resorts within Walt Disney World and the Southeast (Vero Beach, FL and Hilton Head Island, SC). Soon DVC Villas were added to existing, well known Walt Disney World resorts.
Flash forward about ten years into DVC’s existence. Disney Vacation Club leaders announced one of the biggest DVC Resorts to come on board, cheap car rental uk something never done before. Not only a new section containing DVC Villas and amenities, but DVC would take over a portion of the existing Animal Kingdom Lodge. This had never been done before and on its own was a pretty impressive feat. And then the cherry on top; the Kilimanjaro Club would become an experience DVC Members could not only use their Vacation Points for, but the entire 6 th floor Kilimanjaro Club hotel rooms would be converted to Disney Vacation Club villas!
In the world of vacation ownership it is extremely rare for owners to have the opportunity cheap car rental uk to use their membership to stay in the regular hotel portion of a resort. And the additional indulgence of using your vacation ownership to stay at a concierge level? No way, that’s not what vacation ownership was created for. But alas Disney did it and it is one of my favorite cheap car rental uk ways to use my membership.
One of the luxuries of practically any concierge club level at any hotel is the arrival and check in experience. Upon arrival I walked over, or perhaps it was floated dreamily enraptured and enthralled, to the large impressive cheap car rental uk front desk. After a few moments of viewing cheap car rental uk my reservation the front desk Cast Member called over another gentleman with an ear piece and a touch screen tablet.
Greeted with a warm Disney smile, we walked over to the elevator bank and the Cast Member used a card to tap the RFID reader so that we could access the top floor. The Kilimanjaro Club itself is perched on a landing on the top floor, overlooking the grand, open lobby. The sounds of the energetic lobby rise in the air. Two desks sit at the entrance of the club with two concierge Cast Members.
Upon my arrival on this particular trip, both desks were occupied so I was escorted cheap car rental uk to one of the dining tables and asked if I would like a glass of sangria to welcome me (who could say no to that?). As I settled in I felt a wave of warmth and contentment cheap car rental uk wash over me. This is my bliss.
Once a Cast Member became available I was seated at one of the desks. I was asked if I had stayed before and upon explaining that this was my favorite resort and that I have stayed many times before, the check in process became very rushed and simplified. Usually this is not the case, and I was a little surprised at the change in demeanor that took place. Unfortunately in the new found haste, the Cast Member forgot to have me set a pin for room charges using the MagicBand (which became cheap car rental uk frustrating cheap car rental uk when we were in the parks, but we got it corrected that night). Still, it was nice to be seated in an exclusive area as the adventure began.
cheap car rental uk For Disney Vacation Club Members using their vacation points to stay at the Kilimanjaro Club, one downside is the inability to select your room’s view type. Your view will either be of the Uzima Springs Pool or the Sunset Savanna. After three club level stays using our points cheap car rental uk we’ve had a savanna view once and the same exact room facing the pool twice.
We’ve also learned to not care too much about the view. Anytime I’ve had a savanna view I’ve found myself wanting to be on the balcony 24/7 afraid I would miss something neat. Having a pool view enables me to relax and not feel guilty for being out and about enjoying the rest of the resort.
Oh the joys of nibbles and drinks included in your stay! This is perhaps the most popular perk of staying club level, and that goes for pretty much any hotel offering cheap car rental uk a club level. Kilimanjaro Club offers five different food beverage services throughout the day (that’s pretty darn impressive!)
Breakfast / Miamko (Adventurous Awakenings) [7:00 AM 10:30 AM] : The most important meal of the day is pretty scrumptious at Kilimanjaro Club. Like most club level breakfasts, there is no hearty protein cheap car rental uk offered. I would call this is deluxe continental breakfast. A bounty of bagels, muffins, and croissants is accompanied by fresh preserves cheap car rental uk and butter. A luscious selection of fresh fruit includes melons, pineapple, and a variety cheap car rental uk of berries. There’s also cereal, oatmeal, and quinoa (fun fact: Boma was the first place I ever had quinoa over five years ago). Personally, I am a greek yogurt person which thankfully can be found in the beverage cooler. Don’t forget to try a glass of Jungle Juice!
Snacks and beverages / Vitafunio (Safari Snacks) [11:30 AM 3:30 PM] : Most guests head out to the parks or off on other adventures during the day, so there isn’t much need for extravagant food or beverage during this time. However, if you find yourself cheap car rental uk in need of a little nibble you can choose from gummy bears, spiced mix nuts, a special cheap car rental uk snack mix, and house made BBQ seasoned potato chips. Soft drinks are stocked in the beverage cooler as well as tea, Jungle Juice, cheap car rental uk and lemonade in beverage dispensers.
Chai (Afternoon Tea) [3:00 PM 4:30 PM] : This is one of my favorite features of Kilimanjaro Club. Afternoon tea is a tradition at safari lodges in Africa and it is wonderful to see Animal Kingdom Lodge carry that tradition. A variety of specialty teas are presented; guests select the tea bag of their choosing and make their own cup. A small sampling cheap car rental uk of pastries are offered as well as scones. At the sight of scones and cream my United Kingdom heritage suddenly comes out to play. I don’t care if it’s a chilly or hot day, I will head back to the Lodge to indulge in tea, scones, and cream!
Hors d’oeuvres and beverages / Kisikusiku (Twilight Offerings) [5:00 PM 7:00 PM] : Naturally this is the most popular service of them all. Like animals migrating to the watering hole, nearly all guests with club level access cheap car rental uk migrate here for this service. cheap car rental uk Personally my favorite part is the South African wine. It is pure bliss to be able to sample as much as I like, indulging in wine from one of my favorite regions in the world.
During our recent two night stay we had the unique opportunity of experiencing the traditional evening service on our first night and then trying a new feature during the evening service. We were the very first guests to experience this new test at the Kilimanjaro Club.
Traditionally the evening spread consists of a variety of cheeses, fresh vegetables, a variety of bread, dips and hummus, and two warm hors d’oeuvres presented by the culinary cheap car rental uk teams at Boma and Jiko . The test involved removing the two warm hors d’oeuvres and replacing them with two freshly prepared bites finished off by the culinary team right there at the club. These scrumptious samples were then delivered to each guest as they sat and relaxed in the club.
During our night, the first night of this test, we were presented with an African beef medallion and Ivory Coast seafood stew. The Ivory Coast seafood stew was addicting! cheap car rental uk A creamy, ever so slightly spicy broth with bay scallops and petite shrimp is delightful enough, but then coconut basmati rice is placed on top like a crown; it was absolutely delicious!
Although we enjoyed the seafood stew and interacting with the culinary cast members, the new method caused guests to linger in the lounge much longer than the traditional method since the hot hors d’oeuvres must be brought to you and many guests would wait around cheap car rental uk to received seconds or thirds. It was a very nice touch, however, I am not sure if it is the most practical. It isn’t clear how long this test will run for and whether or not it will lead to a permanent change.
Desserts and cordials / Rehema (Evening Indulgences) [8:00 PM 10:00 PM] : After indulging in the sumptuous spread and beverages offered during Kisikusiku it’s difficult to imagine that more delights await. End your evening cheap car rental uk with the stuff that sweet dreams are made of: desserts and cordials. Usually about 2-3 different mini desserts are offered, cheap car rental uk many of which are simply sinful. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks continue to be offered.
To wrap up your day with something more magical fill your glass with ice and pour yourself a nightcap. Usually there are four cordials offered: Kahlúa, Grand Marnier, Couvosier, and (my personal favorite) Amarul
We were there to see Rome and for us the hotel Fontana Rome was the perfect base. I have to say you
Hotel Fontana best time to travel in italy Rome succeeds in delivering a warm, family-style hospitality that makes guests feel as welcomed as they would at home. The hotel enjoys privileged views (and probably the most sought after) of the Trevi Fountain's Baroque splendor.
My 2 cents: At the Fontana Hotel Rome you are paying for the location and not the size of the room. Bear in mind that fantastic views over the fountain come with drawbacks best time to travel in italy - the continual noise. The rooms at the back (without a view) are a lot quieter best time to travel in italy and generally more spacious. You often hear of people best time to travel in italy disappointed at first for not getting a room with a view but later being very relieved!
See a map showing the position of Hotel Fontana Rome Italy and other Trevi fountain Rome hotels . We also have a page dedicated to the Trevi fountain Rome area - things to do, transport, shopping, nightlife etc.
The Hotel Fontana Rome is approximately a 5-minute taxi ride away from the central best time to travel in italy Termini station. Alternatively the hotel may be reached by Metro line A stopping best time to travel in italy at the Barberini stop. The hotel is then a 5-minute walk from the Barberini stop.
We were a party of 4, two couples, and booked two rooms with a view of the Trevi Fountain but a slight mix up upon arrival got us only one Trevi fountain view room at the Fontana hotel. best time to travel in italy My friends were willing to take the non-view room - their main concerns being clean room with a comfortable bed and they said their room met their expectations.
I have to say, as nice as it was to overlook the gorgeous Trevi Fountain, if you are a light sleeper, the continuous sound of the running best time to travel in italy water may keep you awake. Something to think about before booking a room with a view of Trevi Fountain.
We loved the hotel Fontana Rome. It is small, quirky and slightly shabby but right in front of the Trevi Fountain. If you are looking for a luxury Rome hotel do not stay here, however if you want good atmosphere in a unique Italian Hotel this is the place for you. I will be back!
The fabulous location of the Hotel Fontana Rome Italy is why you would really stay here! The hotel itself is very quaint and has a lot of charm, and the rooms are lovely and airy. The bathroom, however was verging towards being unusable small. The dining area was amazing with views overlooking the Trevi fountain.
I stayed in off peak season and paid 190 Euros for a double best time to travel in italy room for one night. I find it's a lot of money to fork out and some people might be disappointed. best time to travel in italy You are essentially paying for the location and views of the Trevi Fountain. I didn't find that for the price the staff were particularly friendly. They did their jobs competently and professionally, but I've had much better service in other places where they receiving just a fraction best time to travel in italy of the cost. For this reason I won't be rushing back, but the Hotel Fontana Rome certainly is ideal for a romantic break.
We are couple in our 40s and have been staying in the hotel Fontana Rome for 5 nights. The hotel is in small building built in the 17th century and was once a monastery. It is located just opposite the famous Fontana di Trevi. The hotel itself is absolutely romantic, and so is the location. We really loved our room with a view of Trevi fountain. This has been the most romantic stay of our life!
Of course, you must be prepared for such a building and such a location. If you are looking for the comfort and luxury of a modern hotel within best time to travel in italy this price category, then perhaps this is not your place. The floors are old, and uneven, the walls and the windows best time to travel in italy belong to a building of the 17th century. The noise coming through the window day and night is that of the Trevi fountain, which sounds more like the ocean, and then there is the crowd of happy and friendly people enjoying the atmosphere. For us it was so tremendously beautiful.
best time to travel in italy The bed took up most of the room and the floor sloped downwards best time to travel in italy so that we kept slipping off the bed during the night. We thought we were seeing things when we looked at the clothes cupboard and it sat at an angle against the wall. The bathroom needed to be refurbished and was cramped to say the least. There was no bar fridge in our room, or robes, and no safe deposit box, it was very basic.
best time to travel in italy some may have had a better room than ours at the Fontana Hotel, I don't know. We did ask for a Trevi fountain view, but I have to say that for the 4 nights we were there we didn't sleep more than 3 hours each night due to the constant best time to travel in italy noise. Even with the windows closed the noise from the water and crowds best time to travel in italy was overwhelming, and people hung around until 3 - 4am in the morning. After that the garbage trucks would come round. The windows were not sound proofed even with the shutters closed.
Breakfast is ok but the breakfast room is tiny and very claustrophobic. The tables are small and the wrought iron chairs sit much higher than the tables causing you to bend over the table in order to eat your food. Quite uncomfortable and not very practical. We didn't ask for another room but perhaps we should have. All in all it wasn't the way I wanted to say goodbye to Rome which I love and we certainly will never stay at the hotel Fontana Rome again.
I would definitely recommend room no 204 - no view of the Trevi Fountain but you get a good night's rest and much appreciated air con. The breathtaking view from the breakfast room, which is intimate, best time to travel in italy light and airy, should satisfy your need for seeing the Trevi Fountain.
We were taken to our room by one of the friendly porters and he also showed us the breakfast room and gave us some handy info as well as complimentary water/biscuits. We paid for a superior room which was fairly spacious, although the bathroom was probably the smallest I've ever seen, with very clean robes and full of rustic charm.
Some of the furniture is old and worn but it's what we expected from a 17th Century former Monastery and I loved all the little chairs/lamps, tables and decor along the hallways. My only gripe would be that there were no bath towels when we arrived best time to travel in italy and drying oneself on a tea towel is not ideal but i guess no big deal when it's hot.
We were there to see Rome and for us the hotel Fontana Rome was the perfect base. I have to say you are also paying for the location, it's easy walking distance to almost all of Rome's major tourist attractions and it also has the world famous best time to travel in italy San Crispino ice cream parlor around the corner.
Some tips: go to breakfast fairly early or there won't be anything left. We got there at 10am on the first morning just as they were about to pack up the toaster but on our last morning, at 8 am, there was loads of choice and it was great.
Secondly, best time to travel in italy when you get to Rome, take the train from Fiumicino airport best time to travel in italy (Leonardo da Vinci) to Termini (11 Euros each) and then a taxi (shouldn't cost more than 10 Euros) to the hotel or alternatively if you don't have too much luggage you can walk it in 15 mins.
I hope that these tips will come in handy. If we have helped you in any way with your Hotel Fontana Rome Reservation please show your appreciation by bookmarking this page and/or best time to travel in italy sharing it with your friends. Thank you very much.
By foot you can easily reach the heart of the shopping district next to Via Condotti and the Via del
Description: The Relais Fontana di Trevi is situated in the historical centre of Rome, right in front of the famous Roman Trevi Fountain. The hotel is a traditional building dating back to the 1900s and has a mixture of classic and modern styles. It maintains a high standard as a 4 star hotel. The facade is honey coloured and the majority of windows have traditional shutters.
By foot you can easily reach the heart of the shopping district travel guide australia next to Via Condotti and the Via del Corso. The Spanish Steps, Roman Pantheon, Navona Square, Campo de Fiori and ancient Roman Colosseum are also very close at hand while the Vatican City will be a slightly brisker stroll at 1,5 miles or 2,3 km away.
There is a WiFi area, and suites are also available on request. The breakfast travel guide australia room serves a rich buffet and the private terrace on the 3rd floor (for cocktails and aperitifs) offers a breathtaking view of the Trevi Fountain. Breakfast can also be served free of charge in your room.
Romanlife 2 cents: At the Relais Trevi fountain Rome you will pay a fraction more than you would at the 3 star hotels near Trevi fountain, however the additional benefits and luxury far exceed the price difference, in my opinion. The advantage of staying here is the proximity of most of Rome's main tourist attractions! The Relais Trevi is ideal for those who want a comfortable centrally located hotel in Rome and want Rome's wonderful sights, sounds and activities within easy grasp.
See a map showing the position of Hotel Trevi Fountain Rome Italy and other Trevi fountain Rome hotels . We also have a page dedicated to the Trevi fountain Rome area - things to do, transport, shopping, travel guide australia nightlife etc.
The Relais Trevi fountain Hotel Rome is located in the city's historical and commercial centre. It is an approximate 5 minute taxi ride from the central Termini station. Alternatively the hotel may be reached by Metro line A stopping at the Barberini stop. The hotel is then a 5-minute walk (500 meters - 600 yards) from the Barberini stop.
There were three of us (husband, daughter and I) staying at Relais Trevi fountain hotel Rome for three days in May 2008. We shared one room and were very pleased at the size and quality of the hotel room. The pictures of the hotel are exactly as the room appeared. It was in imaculate condition and so were the breakfast and reception areas.
There is a small, but adequate outdoor terrace where you can have a very nice breakfast buffet. travel guide australia The accommodating staff take care of your every need. There is also a nice indoor breakfast room as well. The view of the Trevi Fountain travel guide australia from the outdoor terrace is wonderful. It's a privilidge to enjoy the wonderful sight and sounds travel guide australia of the magnificent statues and waterfalls in peace and quiet.
Our room was on a closed side street as repairs were being made to the pavement. The hotel had the valet meet our airport shuttle at the next corner so we never carried a bag. As for noise, during the day time with the workers below it was a bit noisy, but as soon as the windows were closed it was quiet. At night, with the double glazing and outside shutters, we heard nothing.
We stayed two nights travel guide australia at the relais Trevi fountain hotel Rome, in the "Muratte Loft", just a few steps away from the fountain. And YES it does a great view of the Trevi Fountain, and when Rome is hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement it's a wonderful place to sit and enjoy both the airconditioning and the view.
For those who would like to try an apartment, wow what a deal! You don't pay any cleaning travel guide australia charge and breakfast for 2 is included at Relais Trevi's beautiful roof top Terrace, complete with a Trevi Fountain view.
All contact we had with the hotel staff was excellent, the breakfast is a lot more (eggs & sausage) than a typical Italian buffet.. and I could not think of a more beautiful place in Rome to enjoy your morning coffee than on top of the roof top terrace. These Trevi fountain views are very limited with 99.999999% of Trevi Fountain travel guide australia tourists never having the opportunity to experience th view in this way.
I loved my short stay at the Relais trevi fountain hotel Rome. I arrived early and left my luggage at reception, they gave me a street map of Rome so I could start exploring Rome immediately. When I returned to the hotel, my luggage had already been put in my room! The hotel room was spacious and so was the bathroom. I was accompanied to my room by a concierge who showed me the refrigerator that had 2 free bottles of water (very handy considering a bottle of water in the center travel guide australia of Rome costs 2 Euros!) You can also find small supermarkets nearby if you want to stock the fridge with some drinks.
What I loved many things about this hotel: Firstly, travel guide australia it is right in front of the magnificent Trevi Fountain. My room didnt have a view of the fountain, but I was glad as I didnt hear any noise. You can walk to almost all major sights and return easily to the hotel to freshen up. In the Trevi Fountain Rome area you will find everything you need: restaurants, travel guide australia gelatos (the ice-cream is delicious), great shops, McDonalds (if need be), automatic cash machines, it was just perfect! You also have free access to internet at the hotel Trevi. Plus the metro station is only a 5 minute walk away!
On the 3rd floor there is a terrace with a view of the Trevi fountain. You can have breakfast on the terrace and at night you must enjoy a drink or pizza and pasta if you want to eat dinner. The staff are always very pleasant. In the room, most of the channels were in Italian, but they had pay per view with some recent movies in English. I highly recommend the relais fontana di trevi hotel!
We stayed at Relais Trevi fountain hotel Rome in December 2008 for 2 nights. The hotel is much better than what I expected, we stayed in a regular room which was large and clean. The location is just perfect, we walked everywhere, even to the Vatican. The atmosphere on the street is amazing, just in front of the Fontana di Trevi and the sound of the water can be heard when you open the windows.
travel guide australia The breakfast was delicious and in a very lovely decorated dining room. The summer breakfast area on a rooftop terrace which has a Fontana di Trevi view. The hotel has an elevator, but you have to use the stairs to the reception on the first floor. Our flight was very early in the morning so we were not charged for the room the last night, and spent the whole day walking and shopping around. After midnight travel guide australia we still had a couple of hours to spend so we sat and relaxed in the leather coaches in front of TV at the reception till our airport shuttle arrived.
I hope that these tips will come in handy. If we have helped you in any way with your Relais Trevi fountain hotel Rome Reservation please show your appreciation by bookmarking this page and/or sharing it with your friends. Thank you very much.

I can't emphasize enough how much time and money you save by being close to the tourist attractions,
Once you know which area/areas you would like to stay in how do you find the best price? Aha! This is my area of expertise. My page on tripadvisor.com explains what TripAdvisor is and how you can get the most out of this Hotel search tool.
If you are thinking about staying outside of the city center you may want to reconsider. In my experience the advantages of staying close to the Rome tourist attractions and nightlife far outweigh staying in the suburbs.
I can't emphasize holiday car rental enough how much time and money you save by being close to the tourist attractions, monuments, restaurants, holiday car rental nightlife holiday car rental etc. It's also true that one's experience of Roman life and culture can vary greatly depending on which area of Rome you stay in.
April, May, June, September and October (and also Christmas, New year and Easter) are considered high season holiday car rental by most hotels in Rome. Bearing in mind July and August are when Italians migrate to the coast.
Of what does breakfast consist? Fruit, cereals, cold meats, holiday car rental bacon and eggs? (Remember that a Romans breakfast usually consists of an Espresso and a Croissant.) It's true, however, that breakfast in Roman hotels is improving after decades of grumbling foreigner's tummies!
This is as good a place as any to speak a bit of politicalese: the human from India or the Philippin

February 26th marked the inauguration of D. Foy s national book tour in support discount montreal hotels of his debut novel, Made to Break , released from Two Dollar discount montreal hotels Radio on March 18 th . Here is the second installment of his tour blog.
This was the first day of my sweep through the Pacific Northwest with Cari Luna, author of the killerdiller novel, The Revolution of Every Day . My publisher, Eric, had hooked us up for my event at Powell’s, but because she’d received invitations to read in Bellingham and Olympia (Washington), we took advantage of the opportunity to plan a sort of Bonnie-and-Clyde on the Northwest. By the time we booked a date in Vancouver, as well, where I’d had a fantasy discount montreal hotels of reading, probably for nostalgic reasons (I’d been there years ago as a kid), we had ourselves a five-city tour lined up, under the auspices of #LunaAndFoy.
All-things AWP far surpassed my expectations. I probably had more fun in the last four days than at any conference-type affair, ever. The flipside of this? I was due for trouble, or rather at least for trouble’s little brother. And sure enough, the rat chose the morning discount montreal hotels Cari and I were set to leave Seattle to waylay me.
According to plan, having flown out to Seattle, I was now ready to pick up the rental car I’d reserved back in December for the West coast leg of my tour—Vancouver to LA. But when I called Advantage rental car that morning to check its pickup address, I was greeted by the computer lady that answers when phone numbers are disconnected. discount montreal hotels I called the 800-number for Advantage to receive confirmation from a human in the Philippines or India that in fact Advantage no longer existed in Seattle and that Thrifty car rental had assumed responsibility for its obligation to me. But when I called Thrifty, they had no record of my reservation. The same human from the Philippines or India, or so it seemed—the human not only spoke English very badly but couldn’t seem to understand it, either, repeatedly parroting as they did gibberish that had nothing to do with my questions—told me I needed to call Advantage again to get another confirmation code that corresponded to a code recognized by the Thrifty system. This went on and on, back and forth and all around, until two and a half hours later it struck me I’d somehow become the object of the sort of cosmic hoax with which our old friend Mr J. Kafka was so familiar . Nothing could be done, or so I was informed by a different, purportedly superior human: it was now incumbent upon me— me! —to rent another car on my own. I checked the email account I use for buying things online—essentially my spam account—and found that just yesterday Advantage had sent a letter informing me, like the humans on the phone, that they were no longer responsible for my reservation. The letter also included a new confirmation code that, doubtless, was still unrecognizable discount montreal hotels by any of the aforementioned systems.
This is as good a place as any to speak a bit of politicalese: the human from India or the Philippines was not a nameless humanoid but, very obviously, a thinking, feeling person. The system these people work for has dehumanized them in the name of profit. I don’t know for a fact that they were speaking from India or the Philippines, but assume so by virtue of precedent. Every customer service operation discount montreal hotels for every major business, it seems, nowadays bases its operations in India or the Philippines. Why? Because capitalism seeks out the cheapest labor it can find, whether by machine or man, though preferably by machine, reducing man meantime—when it can’t resort to machine—to discount montreal hotels machine. The most profitable market for exploiting humans, as far as my experience can tell, is India and the Philippines, discount montreal hotels though surely that market will shift the instant discount montreal hotels the people it depends on for profit become intractable to that end. But no matter where that market is, one factor will stay constant: even as the service worker is mistreated, the consumer, as was the case for me that morning, and as has many times been the case, will always bear the brunt of systemic greed.
To continue, however, and to wit: in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt, discount montreal hotels where Cari had been waiting all this time (reading Duras as she did), she confirmed that despite my trauma I still possessed enough of my faculties to continue on. We would go to the Dollar agency at the airport with my new letter as though none of what had just happened happened.
At the airport, with an actual discount montreal hotels and actually kind woman, I went through more of what I’d experienced on the phone until the person the kind woman called on her phone said that my reservation would likely have been assumed by Hertz, discount montreal hotels which, as it turns out, owns both Thrifty and Dollar. This was true. My confirmation number agreed with the Hertz system. Hertz gave me my car, at last, and only charged me $500 more, in insurance fees, despite my existing coverage for my car back home, which protects any car I drive. The fees for Hertz would cover the cost of the daily rental fee for every day the car would be out of commission in a shop, should I get in an accident, they said. Later I was informed that the person at Hertz had lied about the insurance fees, and that the employees of car rental agencies employ this dastardliness all the time. Wha???
That night, in freezing, slushy Bellingham, Cari and I read to three people, one of whom was Dave, the accommodating and very pleasant discount montreal hotels events coordinator. We hadn’t considered AWP burnout, much less that it would doubtless apply to the people of letters who lived in Bellingham, most of whom would likely have been at AWP. Worse, and I think far more foolishly, we had overlooked a key fact—that this date coincided with Oscars night. I mean, right? Forget known writers, or even writers who are bona fide famous. What unknown writer in her working mind will think she can compete with the Oscars? Despite these obstacles, however, the reading and discussion came off fantastically. Village Books recorded the whole thing for play on two radio stations later in the month. No one in that audience will have any idea that the show
