Have stayed here three times and have to agree that here is a degree of truth to the "apalling reviews" listed. Howerer, I have now stayed here three times and will continue to use this Hotel in the future as the location is superb, and the price reasonable. If you want glamour and spaciousness, stay at the Ritz Carlton. If you want a clean, inexpensive hotel in the middle of Times Square, stay here. Do keep in mind though that there are different "standards" of rooms. I have stayed in the "lower" standard rooms and they're pretty basic. We were upgraded to 2 double beds this visit, and got one of the nice rooms. There was space between the beds, a large closet and room to move!! No matter what room you get though, the bathroom will be tiny, but really, how much time are you going to spend in it? We did not have any hot water issues and the staff were incredibly helpful. If your intent is to spend money on sight seeing and not the hotel, and to use the hotel purely as a place to sleep, this hotel will work for you.
This hotel was in a PERFECT location. Half block to Broadway, 2 sub stations (different lines) right outside the hotel door. This hotel has character-very NYC. It was neat to see fire escapes out the back window from our room and the age of the hotel made it unique compared to the big chains. Beds were VERY comfortable, high quality linens. Inside the hotel was very quiet and we never heard our neighbors. When I return I would definately stay here again.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and found it to be a great location to easilt walk to all the sites of NY city. We had tickets to the theatre and could walk there very easily. The staff was helpful, the room was small, but clean. We expected it to be small and that was fine. Who spends time in their hotel room when they are in NY City?? The restaurant downstairs was fantastic. Best sushi!! Right around the corner from Time Square. Felt very safe. Would stay here again.
I was looking for a comfortable hotel near Central Park, Broadway, Lincoln Center, and all the action of NYC, without the big price tag. This sweet little hotel has a clean, inviting lobby, tastefully decorated, with uniformed staff and good customer service. The rooms are European - meaning close quarters, but clean, nicely designed, in neutral colors and super comfrotable. A nice TV, movies, and a perfectly fine bathroom. The value was incredible for this location. Nice restaurant adjacent to the hotel and everything in the world at your doorstep. Would absolutely stay there again.
We loved the hotel and location. This was our 10th visit to NYC over the years and we loved this hotel the best. The staff was very friendly, kind and accomodating. We will absolutely return to this hotel in the future.
Excellent place, easy walking distance from times square, has metro stations 25 meters both sides. Can't be easier to walk around new york. Extremely clean, staff very kind and they try their best to keep everything working (things were fixed during the day, even if we didn't ask for). There are three things to keep in mind: 1- the heater is a little noisy and not the best around town - works good at night, and that satisfied me, as I did't paln to stay in the hotel during the day. 2- no view of the city in my room - not bad, just that with some 100 extra bucks you can buy one. 3- rooms are Paris sized, not USA sized. Bottom line: recommended, would definitely stay there again.
It was our first stay in NYC and the Amsterdam Court Hotel was the ideal place with an ideal price. The hotel itself is located just off Broadway and very close to Times Square. Located in Manhattan(in the theatre district) the Amsterdam Court provided a centralized location for everything. The hotel is older but the rooms are simple and very clean. We had no problems at all and the room met our needs for two. If you're looking for a spacious room.....find another hotel. However, if you are like us, who spends time in their hotel anyway......especially in NYC. As I mentioned earlier....besides a great location....the Amsterdam Court is priced right for travelers on a budget. Two thumbs up!
We couldn't believe how lucky we were. The Amsterdam is in a ideal location to everything we wanted to see. The staff helped us with suggestions, storing our bags, car to the airport, etc. It was very clean and yes small but ALL the rooms in NYC are small no matter what the price so stay at the resonably priced Amsterdam with the perfect location to the restaurants on 8th, Time Square, Central Park, the shopping on 5th, Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock and Broadway.
