NASSAU, Bahamas - Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe on Wednesday announced that The Bahamas will host Caribbean Marketplace for the second consecutive year – a first for any country that has hosted the business event. He also assured the public of the continued success of a star resort in the Family Islands, Sandals Emerald Bay.
Marketplace, which brings travel and tourism professionals together to negotiate agreements, will take place in Nassau/Paradise Island January 20 – 22. Caribbean Hotel Tourism Association, principle organizer of the event, confirmed that the event has already booked record numbers. CHTA has scheduled 12,476 business appointments between the buyers and sellers of inventory such as hotel rooms and airline seats. The total is 264 appointments above last year's number.
Minister Wilchcombe said his Ministry accepts Marketplace's quick return to The Bahamas theater tickets broadway shows as an endorsement of the country's customer service and attention to details concerning guests. He pointed out that Bahamian companies and representatives of the country will be seeking to secure the best levels of business for The Bahamas, which is seeking to significantly increase stopover visitor numbers.
"Negotiations at Caribbean Marketplace will go a long way in setting the pace for our goal," he said. "In addition, we will be making great strides in improving the accessibility to our smaller Family Islands resorts for reservations, as well as for scheduled theater tickets broadway shows air transportation.
