The arrests occurred after deputies were tipped off that a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle stolen Friday in Athens was parked south of Watkinsville in an open field off Sam Cooper Road, according to a sheriff's report.
The suspects — John Thomas Chambers, 21, of South Billups Street, Athens; Gregory Thomas, 52, of Kennedy Road, Athens; and Troy Latrell Cooper, 37, of Sam Cooper Road, Watkinsville — were all charged with operating manhattan apartment short term rentals a chop shop, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects and felony theft of a motor vehicle.

During the time officers were arresting Grant, Grant's mother called police to report her son's Chevelle was stolen from the driveway of her Lexington Heights home by two men, who loaded the vehicle onto a trailer.
When Oconee deputies were tipped off to the whereabouts of the Chevelle on a rural road, Cpl. Clark Sparrow and Sgt. Scott Underwood went to the location and found the car, according to the report. They, along with other deputies, parked nearby in concealed locations and watched as the suspects arrived and started to disassemble the car.
