Looking for a cheap hotel/motel in Kahului in late July for one night. Know about the Maui Beach Hotel ($269 not cheap) and Maui Seaside Hotel ($140). Those can't be the only two hotels cheapest air tickets in Kahului, right?
Many of us arrive OGG late. We drive on to our condos that night. I stop at the Safeway enroute to ours for something for a late snack and breakfast the next day. It's only 20 minutes from the airport to our place in South Kihei; would be well under an hour to Kaanapali -- a bit more to Napili or Kapalua.
cheapest air tickets Well...we all have our priorities. I just want to start feeling like I am on vacation -- want to get out of the airport and Kahului, cheapest air tickets unpack and relax. You probably can't check into your condo before 3 p.m. the next day. You'll spend *something* eating 'out' for dinner, breakfast and lunch until then. (Don't park on the street with a trunk full of luggage.)
I would drive to the condo right away, otherwise the next day could be partially wasted. I would want to wake up next morning in my condo not in a cheap crash out place in Maui. There won't be much saving in the end.
Try Expedia Travelocity for a car/hotel package, you can combine for different number of days. I think you can find a hotel room in kihei and rental from a good rental agancy for the same price or less of your attempt a la carte
Check Costco travel for hotel and or car rental if you are a member of Costco. They waive the mandatory cheapest air tickets fee ($10-12 a day extra) for additional driver. We have used them any times. Not sure about cheap hotels though but car rentals are very very reasonable......
I'll second www.discounthawaiicarrental.com We got a very good rate with them both on Oahu and Maui, and they didn't cheapest air tickets charge more for an extra driver. For us, Costco was more expensive, but do check there as well if you're a member.
