Earlier this month over 200 skiers and boarders descended on Courmayeur to fight it out at the 2007 Swiss International Airlines City Ski Championships . With perfect weather over the weekend, fun was had by all, with most races held in the it s the taking part that counts spirit. However, the top end of competition included some team GB skiers and ex pro-racers, as well as City workers, sponsors and celebrities.
The weekend kicked off with Natives attempting to defend their title in the Team Parallel Slalom. It was a strong line up, captained by James Gambrill (of the Kings Ski Club Natives team), Iain Martin and Phil Martin from our UK office, as well as overseas event manager, Jon Trigell.
After some strong skiing holiday inn hotels uk in the early rounds, a cruel mistake on the final gate in the semi-final by Phil Martin allowed ABC news to sneak a win and qualify for the final. In the final they faced Lloyds of London, where a fall by Jules Hill-Landolt on the first leg led to an easy win for the Lloyds team.
Not only did spectators get the chance to see both Graham Bell and Konrad Bartelski race in the GS, but they were joined by non-snowsports celebrities and former World Champions - ex-Formula 1 racer Damon Hill and former athlete Colin Jackson. Both competed and finished 34th and 86th respectively.
GB racer Andrew Noble took the fastest time 46.41 seconds - but was not competing, so did not count in the overall results. Ex-Norwegian team member Einar Johannson from Merrill Lynch won the Super FIS Male (ex-pro racer) category, with ex-GB junior racer Laura Westmacott holiday inn hotels uk from ABC News respectively.

In the VERY important Fastest Journalist/ Sponsor category, John Harris of the Snow+Rock team (but not actually working at Snow+Rock grrr!) took the honours, comfortably beating the challenge from Natives Iain Martin and Phil Martin, as well as team mate and former winner of this category, Dion Taylor.
Following what was an excellent awards ceremony, the after party turned into an epic one with champagne holiday inn hotels uk flowing and celebrations not only from the skiers but also the Irish it was St Patrick s Day and the Welsh they had just beaten England at Rugby and with Colin Jackson in tow how could they not resist a few beers and lots of chanting of Wales !
After a late finish not many made it up on to the slopes on Sunday, instead making their way back to the City nursing a few champagne induced holiday inn hotels uk hangovers. The Natives team headed off to Meribel for another event, this time to run the Jack Wills Big Air Fashion Show. The team agreed it was a pleasure to be at an event and not organizing it and thanks go to the whole of the Momentum team for making it such a superb and well organized weekend.

What an incredible day at the Burton European Open in Laax. The comps may have been cancelled for the day due to the weather, but everyone holiday inn hotels uk still had massive fun. On Saturday the 17th November we kicked off our first Ski and Snowboard Instructor Course out in Tignes, in the beautiful French Alps.
