Later that afternoon train travel routes in mexico we headed out to a viewing area to see the setting sun on the mountain range. The 4WD track was very rough and required low range 4WD to travel over the rocks and boulders. Quite scary in patches but we got through okay. There was a partial cloud cover on the setting sun which diminished the effect of the setting sun on the mountain range.
Next morning we went for another train travel routes in mexico swim in the pool at the caravan park. In the afternoon we went of a 2pm cruise of Lake Argyle. It was a four hour sunset cruise (the sun is setting at 5.30pm here). Saw some great views of the lake, saw a freshwater crocodile, fed wallabies on an island and fed fish. Two swims in the lake were very special. This was followed by champagne and wine. There are 30,000 freshwater crocs in the lake but do not attack humans (we are too big!). What a wonder cruise and so very special memories.
The next morning we were told be could have a late checkout as it was quiet at the caravan park. All the sensible tourists had gone south before the heat. It is 37 or 38 deg every day. Another swim in the pool was in order.
We then went for a final drive around the Ord River Dam before departing train travel routes in mexico for Kununurra. The dam was being opened through one of the huge pipes to feed water into the Ord River from the lake. A huge volume of water was coming through.
Arriving at Kununurra we set up camp and met lots of nice people including two families travelling together and a couple from NZ who are about to house sit a Cattle Station in a few weeks during the wet season.
