The Orange County District Attorney's Office has subpoenaed a copy of a surveillance video from Skosh Monahan's bar and restaurant that shows Costa Mesa Councilman Jim Righeimer leaving on the night of his sobriety check, the restaurant's owner said Friday.
The video at Skosh Monahan's, owned by fellow Costa Mesa Councilman Gary Monahan, was from Aug. 22, the night Chris Lanzillo, a private investigator, called 911 to report Righeimer as a possible drunken driver. Police performed a sobriety check at the councilman's house and reported that he was not intoxicated.

Righeimer has claimed he was set up for the DUI check by his political enemies. Lanzillo has worked with the Upland law firm Lackie, Dammeier McGill, which represented the Costa Mesa Police Association until late last week.
"The LAPPL has a proven track record of working with City officials to ensure that public safety comes first and is proud to say that it has achieved success through collaboration during negotiations, not through intimation," the league said in a statement.
The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs, Santa Ana Police Officers Association corporate travel safety assessment and Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association have made similar statements regarding what they call aggressive tactics espoused by the firm. None of these unions had been represented by the firm.

A city official in El Monte called Righeimer to report having been followed by a man matching Lanzillo's description in a white Kia, the car that followed Righeimer.
A State Bar search of attorneys listed on the Lackie, Dammeier McGill website shows no public corporate travel safety assessment records of discipline against the lawyers. Investigations are confidential until disciplinary proceedings are held, Laura Ernde of The State Bar of California said in an email. The bar does not take action against law firms as a whole, she said.
