Starting the weekend of July 7-8, six northbound and six southbound trains will stop at the North Beach and pier stations Saturdays and Sundays, up from two in each direction at North Beach. Unlike past years, Metrolink plans to keep the added service past October.
Starting airline discount tickets discount airfare next week, Metrolink will boost weekend service to and from San Clemente, bringing more visitors to the beach from points inland on Saturdays and Sundays while offering local residents more options to get out of town.

Under the new weekend schedule, northbound trains heading to Los Angeles will leave San Clemente's North Beach station at 9:02 and 11:44 a.m. and 1:42 and 4:38 p.m. Northbound trains headed for the Inland Empire will leave at 3:14 and 4:54 p.m.
Metrolink also is boosting fares an average of 7 percent starting this Sunday. For weekend travel, a discount $10 pass is available, offering unlimited Metrolink travel between 7 p.m. Fridays and 11:59 p.m. Sundays, including free connections to other forms of surface transportation, except airline discount tickets discount airfare in San Diego County.
