We're thinking of going skiing this Christmas -- my kids are 6, 9 nd 14. We like to do ski school for a day or two and then ski together for part of the time. I know it's a little bit late, but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of where to go in North America. We've been to Beaver Creek in Colorado but want to try someplace new.
Thank you for sharing useful information. Even i would like to share my experience, i found a website www skiresorts com which was helpful to me during my vacation. These site helped to find the information, reviews, airfares, condos, and tips and honest advice about where you should eat, ski, sleep and play in the ski resorts you want to visit.
I love Killington - Located in Vermont this is known as the largest ski snowboard area in the East. Killington offers the most skiing and most variety of terrain served by the East's highest capacity lift system.
There are so many great places to ski for families throughout North America. I am partial to Utah and Colorado skiing omni hotel houston tx since the snow is so light and fluffy - most places have excellent ski schools and facilities for families. Sun Valley Idaho is another great family ski spot and you might also consider looking at Whistler Blackcomb outside of Vancouver British Columbia -- it's where many of the Olympic skiing and snowboarding omni hotel houston tx events will take place in January 2010 so it will all spiffed up for the occasion.
I totally adore Breckenridge - it has the best of everything! The layout of the ski mountain is really easy to navigate and the skiing and boarding are super. The way it's laid out makes for plenty of ski in and ski out lodging. Lots of European omni hotel houston tx guests visit for weeks at a time - I met a family who had tried a number of ski resorts throughout North America omni hotel houston tx but just keep going back to Breck over and over.
There are many other activities in the area. It's a really cute Western town with good food. There are other winter sports, cute shops, etc. The kids program in the ski school is quite good. I just can't recommend it enough!
I love Alta outside of Salt Lake City Utah! It's really family friendly and low key. There are all these ski-in-ski-out lodges omni hotel houston tx that you stay in and one, the Alta Lodge, omni hotel houston tx has hosted families for a really long time. Alta is kind of a throwback to the ski areas of the 60s or 70s -- nothing flashy, just great skiing.
Mt. Abram Ski Resort has long been a favorite of families, especially those with children. Even now, when families can travel just a little further to a mega-resort, many prefer the intimate feel of Mt. Abram Ski Resort.
This is fostered by the fact that at the end of the day, or at lunch for that matter, it is easy to round up the family as there is only one base area and the parking lot is nearby -- easily accessible for forgotten mittens, goggles or other items left in the car.
We have tried quite a few of them, but with kids those ages the Park City area might be the most fun. The town has decent restaurants and little shops and it's cute. Plus it has the Olympic park and the kids could take a ski jump lesson. There are three ski resorts right there that are all great.
We love Keystone for families. I agree that a condo is the way to go. We prefer to ski our of the Mountain House base, less crowded than River Run and you can ski schoolmarm home rather than the slightly scary run back to River Run. If you are trying to stay in a budget the most economic complexes within a short walk to the area are, Slopeside. Slopeside only has studios and one bedrooms that might not work for you. The Key Condo Complex is a bit further of a walk but still very close and closer to River Run. They have condos from studios to 3 bedrooms. Love the outdoor omni hotel houston tx hot tub at Key Condos. For higher priced lodging look at Château DuMont. If you do want River Run the nicest are the Timbers and Lone Eagle though very, very $$$$
