How do you solve a problem uk to canada air travel like Catwoman? It's a question Christopher uk to canada air travel Nolan must already have asked himself and presumably answered, given the announcement that Anne Hathaway will play the character in his third and final Batman movie, uk to canada air travel The Dark Knight Rises . I was fully expecting the film-maker to avoid including Selina Kyle in the new film, despite the character's uk to canada air travel prominence in the caped crusader's canon, and the fact that she is probably the only figure capable of rivalling the impact of the Joker..
Why? Catwoman is a cultural icon, and Nolan had previously hinted that The Dark Knight uk to canada air travel Rises would be very much a continuation of the story begun in The Dark Knight, with Batman on the run and being hunted by both mob and law. There just didn't seem time for a Catwoman origins story if the trilogy were to be smartly rounded off in the space of a few hours.
Perhaps if Nolan had committed for a fourth or fifth movie, matters might have been different. Kyle could have been introduced in Batman 3 and allowed to transform into her alter ego in a future film. But, despite the fact that only the name Selina uk to canada air travel Kyle (not Catwoman) is mentioned in Warner Bros' press release, that seems unlikely now, such will be the clamour to see the character on screen.
The Dark Knight Rises suddenly looks far more like a standalone movie. Nolan has a big hitter with the potential to make us forget uk to canada air travel all about Heath Ledger's fine performance in the last film, and an actor with the presence to personify the character. In the comics, Kyle has been depicted variously as a prostitute, a petty burglar and an international thief and bounty-hunter, among other incarnations. I'd expect Nolan to avoid any supernatural overtones to the character, as they would stand out like a sore thumb in his more realistic Batman universe. So don't expect Kyle to have nine lives like the Michelle Pfeiffer version from Tim Burton's Batman Returns, or return to life after getting licked by some street moggies. There has been another, more recent Catwoman, of course – namely uk to canada air travel Halle Berry's ill-fated Patience Phillips incarnation from 2004's Catwoman. Quite why the film-makers opted not to utilise the traditional uk to canada air travel Kyle alter ego is beyond me, but at least it allows Nolan to completely ignore what was a pretty anodyne movie.
Catwoman is traditionally something of an antihero rather than a full-on villain, a character created by Bob Kane to personify the sublime paradox of male fear and attraction towards the opposite sex. Will Nolan choose to have her switching sides between uk to canada air travel the Dark Knight and his enemies, upholding that age-old prejudice, which posits women as unknowable, mercurial creatures?
Nolan also announced today that Tom Hardy will play Bane, who one might expect to be the more traditional bad guy. The character is a relatively new one, who only arrived in the comics in the 1990s. Yet he maintains the distinction of having bested Batman physically and even broke Bruce Wayne's back at one point, uk to canada air travel leaving him in a wheelchair. While that would certainly be one way to round off the trilogy, the movie is called The Dark Knight Rises , so unless Nolan is being rather disingenuous uk to canada air travel I suspect we can look forward uk to canada air travel to a more upbeat finale.
And where does Batman go once the suit has been packed away, and Nolan has flown the coop? There were hints this week that Darren Aronofsky, who was almost given the job of reviving the franchise before Nolan's arrival, might be in with a shout once again. In an interview with the website Clothes on Film (which conspicuously avoids much discussion of the sartorially linked elements of his career), Aronofsky mentions uk to canada air travel that he's working on a Batman comic book that would tell the Batman: Year One story he wanted to bring to the big screen back in 2000.
"We're doing a comic book of a script that's really hard to make and we're going to do a comic version first and see what happens," uk to canada air travel said the film-maker. uk to canada air travel Hints of an Aronofsky Batman revival there? Well, let's just see what he makes of rescuing Wolverine first.
The maker of Pi, Requiem for a Dream and the enthralling Black Swan might just be the man to go to if Warner Bros wants something a little more leftfield – perhaps uk to canada air travel combining the oddball uk to canada air travel tendencies of Tim Burton's take with Nolan's rugged aesthetic, but losing the former's sense of high camp. It would be nice to think, however, that the current penchant for rebooting characters before the dust has even been allowed uk to canada air travel to settle on their current incarnation uk to canada air travel (à la Spider-Man) uk to canada air travel is not set to become the norm. Perhaps uk to canada air travel that's an argument in favour of Nolan leaving the story open-ended, but even with a slew of new characters to introduce and presumably some explanation of the Joker's disappearance, I can't see that happening. One thing's for sure, there's going to be an awful lot going on in The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan's inpetly edited, humourless, uk to canada air travel action-free films are even worse than Burton's - thought you're right, he does seem inclined to excise exciting characters if they don't fit his tediously "dark", sullen teen intellect.
What is awful and all that matters is, as with Pfeiffer in the second Burton one, the Gingerbread House one, Anne Hathaway uk to canada air travel - who is the best woman in the world in many technical respects - is now a bit too Hollywood-skinny to make the skin-tight PVC appetising. That's Nolan timing in a nutshell.
Hmm, I have been skeptical since finding out that the name had been announced as "The Dark Knight Rises". It doesn't feel like a natural name to round off the trilogy and it just feels a bit too similar to the previous film... It would be like calling Return of the Jedi "The Jedi Strike Back" or "Fall of the Empire".
Add to that the announcement of the actors' characters so early on in the pre-production process and I'm hoping beyond hope that this is some sort of red herring, perpetrated by Nolan to throw us off the real scent.
The casting of Hathaway suggests uk to canada air travel that the character uk to canada air travel will be used as a good/bad guy meaning she will probably be on the same team as the Bat by the end. Its hard to imagine Hathaway as a villainess and this is a shame because I would have preferred to see a Nolan Catwoman be a flat-out bad guy, no soft side. Emily Blunt, or even the much maligned Megan Fox, would have been better at conveying feminine evil. But now we'll just be waiting uk to canada air travel for AH to assume her more comfortable role as romantic lead. Yawn.
Given the headline uk to canada air travel of this is quite self-explanatory, exactly why did you feel it necessary to come in, sling a pathetic no-effort attempt at an insult at anyone who reads it and in so doing prove yourself to be a stupid child who thinks pointing and laughing is the height of maturity?
As for the plans for what happens to the Bat-franchise post Nolan, well, I am the only one that would like to see the series lighten up a bit. Of course the Dark Knight was enormously successful uk to canada air travel but I found it too dark and gritty and it lacked uk to canada air travel the humour of even Frank Miller's work.
This may be a minority opinion but I wouldn't mind if they brought back Robin. The purpose of that character was always to inject some lightness onto the comic. Bob Kane was concerned that Batman was too gloomy in appearance uk to canada air travel and that by partnering him with a younger, more colourful hero he would show kids that Batman himself was good. Now the character can be used in the same way after Nolan's departure.
I'm not saying we need a Burt Ward or even a Chris O'Donnel characterisation. He can be approached in a cooler, more modern way but it would be fun to have the next Batman series focus on his relationship with a sidekick rather than being upstaged by villains all the time.
Gotham City is a better title, I agree. In fact, a duff title, as The Dark Knight Rises unquestionably is, is usually the first sign that the wheels are coming off a film series. See The Phantom Menace, Quantum of Solace, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls for details.
I think Anne Hathaway's a good choice - absolutely beautiful, and if any contemporary director can spring surprise castings on us and coax a personality hitherto unseen in any actor, it's Chris Nolan. The Dark Knight was an instant classic on many levels, and the director uk to canada air travel seems to have an iron grip on the handle of the Batman story.
Catwoman is a terrible character and I'm surprised she made the cut. It's impossible to do catwoman seriously and you can't do it camp for the third film, unless Nolan plans on some kind of middle-finger exit film.
I'm just hoping someone has a word in Christian uk to canada air travel Bale's ear (from a safe distance, obv) to tell him the Overly. Husky. Deep. Aggressive. uk to canada air travel Voice. In.The. Dark. Knight. Where. He. Stops. The. Sentence. After. Each. Word. And. Sounds. uk to canada air travel Like. He's. Straining. For. A. Particularly. Resistant. Poo. Is. Distracting. From. The. Rest. Of. The. Film. Why. Not. Just. Talk. Like. He. Did. When. He. Is. Bruce. Wayne?
I know what you mean, and there are times it's just a subterranean rumbling like a subway train through a grate, but if he suddenly changed his voice to a light and frothy pitch, I think it would ruin the mood of the film somewhat...

If memory serves, the consensus uk to canada air travel was that Nolan managed to present the Joker in a serious, decidely 'un-camp' manner. The Joker was a character who wandered about TDK in a purple suit, green hair and clown make-up (and even at one stage in a nurses uniform.)
What is wrong with Hollywood!? The Dark Knight Rises should be breezy and cheerful with lots of neon and a pop-punk uk to canada air travel soundtrack. And you can ditch that sourpuss Christian Bale and get Paul Walker in while you're at it. I demand slo-mo close-ups of Drew Barrymore's chest as Batgirl.
Camp isn't the right word to describe uk to canada air travel the Joker. Dandyish, sure, in a diabolical way, but
