"About as bad as it could go," the starting quarterback said of a night where he completed just two-of-seven passes for a paltry seven yards. "It's my fifth year in Calgary and I don't think I've ever thrown the ball that bad."
Truth be told, Glenn just didn't particularly want to brag about a night that saw him go seven-for-10 for 125 yards, two touchdowns and one pick in a quarter of play – especially with Tate sitting right next to him.
"I think it was all right," said the 34-year-old pivot. "You know it's pre-season. A lot of teams play a little bit of zone, a little bit of man, trying to see if the guys can cover. I think I just went out and played Kevin Glenn football."
A word to the wise: don't go dreaming up a quarterback controversy just yet. A quick glance at the archives shows Tate had a pre-season debut to forget in 2012, and he went on to win when it really counted (when he was healthy.)
"I remember the last pre-season game last year, I threw a pick-six and that was my last pass for the first preseason game," Tate said. "I came out and played a lot better in the second one in Regina so that's what I plan on doing.
"Good, bad, and ugly," head coach John Hufnagel said of the defeat. "There were some nice individual plays out there. There was some sloppy play. We need to correct the things that led to us losing the game, which were too many penalties, turnovers..."
In terms of scoring, Price, rookie receiver Khalil Paden, and rookie tailback Jonathan Williams scored majors for Calgary. Nick Moore and Korey Williams reached the end zone for B.C. Hugh O'Neill kicked four field goals for B.C. Rene Paredes added two for Calgary.
Short yardage: Offensive lineman Na'Shan Goddard (knee), defensive lineman Ben D'Aguilar (knee), defensive back Fred Bennett (head), and linebacker Yannick Carter (hamstring) were among the walking wounded at the end of the night...Safety Keenan MacDougall (hip) dressed atlanta midtown apartments but did not play.
