U2's manager, Paul McGuinness: Absolutely, because in a way there's a memory in the audience. affordable auto rental They've always known that when you come to a U2 show -- even when we were doing theaters -- we would do as much production as we could afford. Once we got into arenas, we loved it -- we always played in the round in the arenas affordable auto rental -- so this seems natural to be in the round in the stadiums.
The engineering problems are enormous and costly. We had to find a way for it to be aesthetic and figure out a way of doing video. That cylindrical screen we have -- that didn't exist, we had to get somebody to invent that. We had to design affordable auto rental this four-legged affordable auto rental thing (the claw) -- and build three of them.
McGuinness: Not exactly gravy, because whether we're playing or not, the overhead is about $750,000 daily. That's just to have the crew on payroll, to rent the trucks, all that. There's about 200 trucks. Each stage is 37 trucks, so you're up to nearly 120 there. And then the universal production is another 50-odd trucks, and there are merchandise trucks and catering trucks. U2 , along with opener Muse , will spend the next two nights (9/23-24) at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Tonight's show (9/23) was originally supposed to happen Friday .
I see the haters are out on BV again as they all appear when a successful band gets mentioned. I have posted many times onthis board that all the indoe bands that are written about here ALL would love to have the stature, popularity affordable auto rental and money that U2 have. That is why they sign their record deals. They dont want to play Cakeshop and Williamsburgh all the time. That is the reality.
If you are taking the train to the show tonight, I suggest you leave as early as you can and buy your ticket early in the day if possible. The ticket lines at Penn were RIDICULOUS last night, as were the ones at the Secaucus station.
u2 are decent enough musicians, bono is a great singer, affordable auto rental but they haven't done anything musically worthwhile in ages; it's staggering that the general public doesn't seem to care about or notice this.
I'm assuming you mean the ticket lines at Penn Station were ridiculous from like, 5pm on? I heard about all the nightmares at Seacaucus with transfer affordable auto rental delays and whatnot. Anyway, seeing as I have a real job and can't just get over to there whenever I want to buy a goddamn ticket I guess I'm just going to drive. I highly doubt they'll "learn" from any of last night's headaches and improve anything either. Wish mass transit wasn't such a pain in the ass!
U2 are far more talented than 99% of the indie bands talked about on BKvegan and other blogs. That they are popular affordable auto rental does not equate with them being good; it's their musicianship, and showmanship. They are spectacular entertainers. True, their recent work is mediocre, but they have a catalog of classics and a sound that is uniquely theirs and instantly recognizable, yet different from album to album, era to era. Very very few bands have truly created a unique sound, and U2 has done that. Nothing sounded affordable auto rental like Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree when they came out. Nothing sounded like Achtung Baby when that came out.
Their manager is wrong, U2 did not play in the round for Unforgettable affordable auto rental Fire, Joshua Tree or Actung Baby tours in arenas, I saw all 3 and all were conventional arena set up. Weird statement? My 2 cents, great band, amazing live, but the new album was just really boring affordable auto rental and bland, so would have been cool to see this show simply for the spectacle of it, from friends who went heard they played 6 or 7 new songs, so glad I passed on it. But they are a great band...
Took me 3 hours to get from Penn Station to my seats in the stadium. Apparently affordable auto rental the geniuses in Jersey (that was sarcasm) didn't figure that 20,000 people were going to take the train. Normally, they estimate 7,000. affordable auto rental Oops.
On the way home, left the stadium at 11:30 and the massive sea of people stretched out as far as the eye could see. Didn't even get on a train until 1:15am. Didn't get home until around 2am. What an absolute sh*t show.
Parking was a nightmare as well (I took the train there but left the show with my friends who drove there). affordable auto rental They had to route a lot of the cars to the raceway parking lot and getting out of there took forever. We stayed til the very end but lots of people left after the 1st encore 'cause they knew leaving would be a major headache.
