The hotels in downtown Calgary are all quite expensive, and this one charges HAL about $180/night. I


The room felt a little cramped, and the two queen beds didn t make for much exercise space inside the room. The bed was soft, almost uncomfortably. The heater in the outside wall performed quietly and admirably, even when it was -20 degF outside.
One outlet was available in the base of the lamp and another in the wall behind the desk. Both wireless and wire Internet worked speedily, flawlessly, conveniently, and without extra cost. The TV card boasted car rental age 18 72 channels, some of them even HD, but over half of them required subscription information.
The bathroom was small, and the toilet needed to be flushed twice or held down in order to work properly. The sink and shower controls worked well. The shower took a little bit to heat up but held its temperature once warm.
The free breakfast was standard HIE fare, with three types of juices, yogurt, cinnamon rolls, a sausage, and some sort of egg. They did have an automatic pancake maker, which made better pancakes than the chef at the Sandman faint praise.
Laundry service did a very good job on my shirts and pants, obeying all instructions. The hotel had an outdoor car rental age 18 garage on the main floor and a basement-level garage with a door, protecting cars from the overnight cold. There was no extra charge for the parking, a very welcome feature for any downtown hotel. Exit and entrance from the 8th Avenue exit was fairly easy, but 8th Avenue got a little crowded around rush hour.
All of the hotel staff were friendly and professional, from housekeeping to front desk. Over the two-week stay, only a complementary bottle of water was offered, which was a little surprising for this Diamond VIP.
The hotels in downtown Calgary are all quite expensive, and this one charges HAL about $180/night. I didn t mind walking the extra blocks to work, and I would stay here next time if it were not full.
