With this Travel Agent, we negotiated a price of Rs. 87,000/- towards cost of return International Air ticket for the Sectors PHOENIX/LONDON/DELHI/KOLKATA/DELHI/LONDON/PHOENIX in the name of my daughter Debarati Das who is presently doing MBA in Arizona State University, USA.
The negotiated amount of Rs. 87,000/- was deposited by us in Cash into their ICICI Bank Account No. 632205500166 of Indo Canadian Enterprises. This deposit was made at ICICI Bank's Branch at 296, Perin Nariman Street, Opposite RBI, Fort, Mumbai 400 001. Copy of the documents can be presented on request.
Subsequently, to our utter surprise, we found this confirmed ticket was cancelled without any intimation to us and now they are refusing to return low fares airline the money to us. This morning, Mr. Jitender of this company answered my phone call and said that the tickets had to be cancelled because their contract with the concerned Airline had lapsed. When I demanded immediate refund of the money, he said this would take 3 /4 months but refused to give anything in writing.
In the meantime, it has come to light that this Travel Agency has cheated a number of other persons in the same manner which has also come out recently in Press Reports. Copy of such Press Reports can be presented on request.
The above company is maintaining account with ICICI Bank as already stated above and we suspect, ICICI Bank has opened their account low fares airline without complying with KYC norms resulting into loss of huge amount of money by common people. We would therefore request you to take up the matter urgently with ICICI Bank and arrange to conduct low fares airline an investigation in this matter. The Bank cannot evade their responsibility in this matter because their complicity is established by the fact that the money was deposited with them in good faith. Hence, they should be equally responsible for refunding the money to me. It may please be noted that necessary complaint has already been lodged with the Chandigarh Police.
