The air service gifts just keep coming for the Research Triangle Region! American Airlines has just announced non-stop service to Los Angeles; just a day after I shared that Southwest will offer additional service to Denver and St. Louis . The new daily Los Angeles service begins April 2, 2013 and you will be able to purchase tickets and view flight times on Sunday, Dec. 23.
The flight also means that RDU travelers are directly connected enterprise rental car sales to each of American Airlines five hubs: Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and New York-JFK, putting literally a world of destinations within just one stop of RDU.
Los Angeles is one of the biggest underserved markets from RDU, so this new flight is great for both our region's business and leisure travelers alike. About 450 people travel each day between RDU and the greater Los Angeles region, mainly by connecting through other airports across the nation.
This is RDU's first daily non-stop Los Angeles enterprise rental car sales route, but the second overall. Since 2006, Delta has offered seasonal, several times weekly service enterprise rental car sales between the two cities. And, prior to that, the now defunct-Midway Airlines served enterprise rental car sales Los Angeles for a short time from June 2001 until their closing in September 2001.
We're very excited about the possibilities that this route brings for travelers. We are also very pleased with the investment that American Airlines is choosing to make in the Research Triangle Region. As we've shared before, we are operating in a new aviation environment where airlines are being more cautious than ever about launching enterprise rental car sales new flights. The investment of this flight is a great compliment to both the region and RDU.
Andrew is the main writer for RDU's website, electronic communication enterprise rental car sales and airport publications. He's also the primary face behind RDU's social media channels. Andrew also helps with other things, from media relations to ordering office supplies. Just don't ask him to get coffee.
Great news for business travelers throughout Raleigh and RTP to have a new, better-timed, and consistent flight option into Los Angeles. Perhaps Delta could respond with improving their schedule on their own LAX flight
Question: what are the next priorities on RDU s discussion list for non-stop service? I personally think that New Orleans, Austin, San Juan, Salt Lake City, Providence, and Kansas City should be the 2013 priorities. 2014 should focus on Paris, San Jose and Seattle, after the new transcontinental flights have matured fully.
We agree. All the destinations you mentioned are viable nonstop destination for RDU and are on our list. The timing however will always depend upon the air carrier, their competitive priorities, aircraft availability, the economy among other considerations. Thank you for your feedback.
