I was almost hesitant to let other people in on this treasure (that we and the many lucky guests who have also had the pleasure of discovering) in fear of not being able to get in the next time we travel to Florence! But see for yourself...(without exaggeration) the Palazzo Alfani is a most splendidly wonderful place to stay!
We had not have chosen to visit Florence in July/August as we find Italy too hot at this time of the year but our visit was to attend a family wedding. The apartment that we rented at the Palazzo Alfani al David had air conditioning in the bedroom, lounge-dining area and the kitchen. Without it the heat would have been unbearable. All in all we'd highly recommend Palazzo Alfani as a Florence Italy rental apartment.
Francesca, the proprietress, was very welcoming and helpful, and we were very grateful that our late arrival was not a problem. She also allowed us access to the flat on our departure day because of no immediate arrival of guests. The low grade of competence for employees is given - we found a pair of used ladies pants on the sitting room floor! Most likely a slip-up, as the apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated and furnished, and I wouldn't want to put anyone off by having mentioned it.
Our general experience was very comfortable, though a kettle or small pot for making tea would have been helpful - for us English guests. I would also have liked an iron and ironing board, although I'm sure if we had asked it would not have been a problem.
Going out of the front door in the mornings was quirky, there were people crowding the exit and the street - the Academia entrance is opposite. The front rooms may be noisy during the day but by evening the street returns to a quiet backwater in the heart of a very busy city. A short walk to the bottom of the street and you are at the Duomo. The owners recommendations for restaurants were good, I didn't see a book for comments and tips by guests in the apartment, but have found such very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending the Palazzo Alfani as your Florence Italy rental apartment and would choose to book it again should the opportunity arise.
The Villa Lucrezia, a large apartment, the type of apartment that makes you feel at home. Very clean and comfortable. Hot water is good. Well furnished with free internet! Two air-conditioners. A caretaker that lives in the building and gives you full assistance. There is a good supermarket only 5 minutes of walk. Buses take about 10 minutes to the historical center of Florence. Price was also very good. CONGRATULATIONS.
Compared to previous Italian holiday apartments we had, the Villa Lucrezia was the best relation of price and service we experienced. We rented an apartment in Lucca two years earlier without parking space and a lot less quality and space for the same price.

We were unable to find the laundromat that he said was near the apartment. Overall, the Villa Lucrezia was one of the nicest rental apartments we had during our three week stay in Europe and Italy.
The Villa Lucrezia apartment was spacious, and clean and catered to our needs. The apartment was quite far from the historical center of Florence, however, it was one short trip on the number 17 bus (the bus-stop is close to Villa Lucrezia) and we were there. Some juice, milk and pastries were also available in the flat. Outside Villa Lucrezia there is a cute fruit and vegetable market. We would recommend staying at Villa Lucrezia, we found it good value for money.
