A certain car rental agency rented 25 vehicles yesterday, each of which was either a compact car or a luxury car. How many compact cars did the agency rent yesterday? (1) The daily rental hertz discount car rentals rate for a luxury car was $15 higher hertz discount car rentals than the rate for a compact car. (2) The total rental rates for luxury cars was $105 higher than the total rental rates for compact cars yesterday But shouldn't the answer be C?- the daily rental on luxury car is $15 more than compact and total rental for luxury cars was $105 more than compact. Therefore, luxury cars=7 and compact cars=18.
Let C = Compact car nos L = Luxury hertz discount car rentals car nos From Q stem : C+L = 25. St 1: Insufficient: Let x be the rate/day for compact cars. So Cx + L (x+15) = ?? St 2: Insufficient: Let x Y are rates. Ly = Cx + 105 (Dont know x y) St 1 + St 2: L(x+15) = Cx + 105....too many variables..for 2 equation. Hence Answer E.
