there are ways to find good prices on local flights-- you just have to know where to look! Sites like expedia often overcharge you (even though it may seem like you are getting a great deal). The best thing to do is find a local agent in BA to help you. You'd be surprised what talking to a real person can do to the prices. There are some sites out there where you can find good prices and talk to people in a number of different languages who are waiting to help you. I'd recommend this over taking an unreliable bus ride (which will take you 10x longer to get there) and certainly over renting a car and driving (a foreigner driving around the Argentine country side? you might as well write yourself a ticket.). I've been here for a while and have managed to find good deals on flights to places like El Calafate, Bariloche, Iguazu, Ushuaia cruises of the hawaiian islands and more. All you have to do is TALK to people, sometimes even over the internet. That's the best advice I can give.
Re: Travel agency in Argentina ? LOVED Argentina! Very clean and nice. I used Tourlite Tours who were amazing and inexpensive. They give you the option of an escorted tour or an independent tour. I used the independent which gave you many options and they provide service in and around cruises of the hawaiian islands Argentina. You must visit the Casa Rosata and if you are looking for tango palors, just ask the local cab drivers, they have all the info. You can also visit Igaussu Falls from there. If you are look for info on Eva Peron, it is very scarce. The only thing I could find was a postcard from a vendor and her grave site in a mosulem. You can aslo visit Uraguy and Paraguy which has gorgeous flowers. See the tango shows, the plays especially Carmen and the steaks are superb!!!
I really think it depends cruises of the hawaiian islands what you're looking for and how far you're willing to travel, how much relaxing or sightseeing you want to do etc etc! I've been in summer and winter and had an excellent time on both occasions! In winter there are less tourists, prices are lower and it rarely rains, in summer the weather cruises of the hawaiian islands is wonderful but places can be crowded... see what I mean!
