I need to start off in saying I am NOT a crafter... I have my moments where I will do something and it will sometimes (very rarely) turn out the way I wanted it. But for my daughters 7th birthday I wanted to buy her a doll house but while I was looking I found them incredibly expensive for a basic doll house. I took the bookshelf she was already using and primed and painted it a light pink (a color I already had on hand. My neighbor was giving away some carpet so I used that and then contact paper for the kitchen and bathroom cruise discount disney vacation floor. The furniture I took from her 2 previous doll houses --she had a Barbie Vacation house (we got for $30 last year but it was falling apart) and I took a lot of things from there and repurporsed it. And she also had a very old Happy Family??? doll house that I took things from. My Mom bought her the fridge and bathroom stuff for her birthday which completed the house :) Now don't look too closely remember I am not a crafter!!
This is a New York style house with the backyard on the roof. I didn't want to build a roof (I am not that crafty) so I thought why not have a little patio and backyard. Someday she will get the Barbie swing set
I think this whole thing cost me $20 and that was for the primer, fabric and super glue. (Without Grandma's help it would have been short a fridge and tub) but it was so fun to make and with the look on her face it was totally worth it :)
