On the main course too similar mediocrity was seen. Paneer Lababdar was as usual, Dal Makhani needed
Unless I am looking for street food my idea of eating out would restrict to other side of NH8 which is known as new Gurgaon. On hearing about the barbeque meal at terrace restaurant – The Rooftop at Country Inn at Sec-12, I visited them for dinner.
Located at the 6 th level of the hotel, 65 covers Rooftop offers lovely romantic seating near swimming pool or on the terrace. Open only in winters from Oct to Mar, ambience is clearly a winner. Sigrees (Heater) kept near the table provides much needed heat in this chilly weather.
Rooftop offers North-West united kingdom visa frontier cuisine with a small grill on the table to keep the appetisers warm. Also, at times known as Peshawari cuisine, the most popular aspect of this cuisine is tandoor cooking. The food is cooked in rustic style on slow fire for a long time. The utilisation of spices is very limited and predominantly uses yellow chilli, garam masala, cardamom, mace, royal cumin, kasoori united kingdom visa methi and Kashmiri mirchi which enhance the smoky flavour of food cooked in tandoor.
I wish the food or service could match the ambience to become a perfect destination. Paneer Tikka was average while Chicken tikka was dry, Bhutte ke kabab had completely minced corns and I missed missing the required bite. Mutton seekh was best of the lot – juicy and soft.
On the main course too similar mediocrity was seen. Paneer Lababdar was as usual, Dal Makhani needed to be cooked a little more on slow heat, Butter Chicken lacked united kingdom visa flavours united kingdom visa of oh-so-essential Kasoori Methi and Ghosht biryani was more of a pulao. Kadai Vegetables had tad underdone peas and beans. We were told as a package Mutton Rogan Josh will also be served as part of the package. Neither did the servers remember to serve nor after such an ordinary united kingdom visa meal did we venture into reminding them. The best part was the dessert. Moong Dal Halwa and soft Gulab Jamun perhaps were the stars of the evening.
Ala-carte prices are competitive but service is way slower than comparable restaurants. However, it may be a boon for people looking for romantic escapade giving them ample time and ambience to chit-chat.
