The recent scandal about the Nazi writing assignment in an Albany history giuffria japan tour 85 class got me thinking about the Rwandan genocide, and whether a Hutu writing assignment would have caused the same outrage, or even received giuffria japan tour 85 the same degree of news coverage (I m sure it wouldn t have). This in turn got me thinking about the wonderful film Hotel Rwanda starring Don Cheadle as hotelier Paul Rusesabagina, who gave safe harbor to 1,268 people, including a number of orphans, in the luxury hotel where he worked during the Rwandan genocide.
I have no idea how realistic the film is, and I highly doubt life was so orderly, clean or quiet in the hotel during the 100 day siege, but it is an excellent film nonetheless that manages giuffria japan tour 85 to be well paced and well acted, while delivering a very human and poignant message without being saccharine or maudlin. Don Cheadle was nominated for an academy award for his performance, but lost out to Leonardo DiCaprio for his performance giuffria japan tour 85 in The Aviator. It s funny how some performances, in retrospect, seem unfairly passed over for either giuffria japan tour 85 awards or nominations. giuffria japan tour 85 Cheadle s performance is masterful, understated, and beautifully measured.
One interesting thing about the film is that while dealing with a genocidal slaughter, very little explicit violence is shown on camera. We usually just see the aftermath of the violence, like the particularly horrific scene where Cheadle giuffria japan tour 85 must decide whether to drive over a roadway littered with bodies.
