@Shah- You are right, the companion pass might not be as good as it first seems. Since you can only use them on BA-coded flights, you will ALWAYS have to pay the fuel surcharge. Whenever I use my BA Avios points, I make sure to do it on flights that don t incur the fuel surcharge, such as the ones I listed in the post. Unfortunately, you can t do that with the companion pass because you have to fly on BA.

I called BA and had the associate look up all the scenarios. Every one of them had taxes (not fuel surcharges) as expensive as purchasing a ticket on any other airline. I don t know anything about how to use my BA avios on a partner airline. I was willing to get to JFK or Boston to get to Dublin thinking that would make a difference. I really don t want to take 3 legs to get to my final destination but if it makes it affordable, I m willing. I don t get how these Avios are good for anything! Please help me figure this out.
