We (my husband and I) have just decided we'd love to spend Christmas in Oaxaca. and are concerned it may bit too late. Since it's Christmas and this will be our gift to each other I really want somewhere nice to stay. Can you recommend somewhere?
We are booked for a week in November at Casa Oaxaca. It is on the high end for the city and very small, but you might want to take a look. I've stayed a few times at Quinta Real, before it had that name. There is a big variationn in rooms, the world cruise ship so I would investigate before booking, and take a look at the room before checking in.
there are lots of holiday decor the streets, lights, the world cruise ship hangings across the streets, etc. around Christmas. But I have not seen a lot of decorations inside the world cruise ship the hotels. If that is what you mean by festive....
Thank you. I guess when I say festive I mean I vibe and I always enjoy colonial d cor. But, now I'm having a major problem with finding anyone that has vacancies. I've sent emails to 8 hotels which web sites they are booked and hoped someone the world cruise ship will find a room at the inn for us.

Two that come to mind are Linda Hanna's B B (she is a serious folk art collector and guide and her house is filled with the most wonderful collection of MX folk art I have ever seen) or Alvin Starkmann's B B (also a guide). Both of them will drive you into the city and pick you up to get back, or you can easily cab it.
We could not get a hotel for the entire time so we are splitting up between : La Casona de Tita and Hotel Casa de Sierra Azul which is a little closer to the center. I'm sure they will both be fine and we are very excited.
